Is it necessary to level the coach?

When just parked out in front of the house, with the bedroom slide extended, is it necessary to level the coach? When I go out camping, I always level but I don't when working on it at home.

Thoughts?

If you're putting out slides you should level. If slides are in then doesn't matter. If I need to get something quick I don't level.

Not being a structural engineer, I am not sure what the weight of a deployed slide does to a trailer frame without the leveling jacks down to support the weight.

If you have your refrigerator running, then it is very important to have the rig level.

If you are going to run your fridge... Level it.

The slides in our TT don't like being deployed or retracted if the TT isn't level - they move really slow and will lurch. It doesn't have to be perfectly level, but if I can feel it out of level while walking around, I know the slides won't be happy.

On our Greyhawk, it didn't seem to mind as much even if the Class C was too out of level to run the fridge.

Short answer; typically you don't need to be perfectly level when just in your driveway doing work and/or packing.

Thankfully and luckily, my driveway puts my rig almost perfectly level.

PLENTY level enough for the fridge. The fridge is actually a lot more tolerant to "out of level" than people think. According to the manual (referencing the Norcold manual) it's supposed to be within 3 degrees side/side, and 6 degrees front/back. At those angles, it would be difficult to even walk inside the rig. So you would know it if you were out of level enough to damage the fridge.

Lots of rigs out there with slides just like mine that are NOT equipped with jacks, so I figure slides out with jacks not deployed is fine. Especially for the short periods it's happening in my world. Really, the only slide I need out while packing up is the bedroom slide, so I can get to the closet.

Sometimes we don't even do that and just lay whatever will end up in the closet on the bed; that's if we're in a hurry.
