Jayco Seneca 34SS Travel Bars

My Seneca came with three travel bars. As per the owners manual I use them every time I move the camper. They are difficult to install and remove. Not impossible but difficult. My question is, are they really necessary? The slides are in all the way in and resting on the floor. Maybe it is prevent them from flexing during travel. Anyway any input would be welcome. Thank you, Dj
