King Antenna issue

The antenna on my 2017 Greyhawk will not fully rotate. It will turn about 20-30 degrees and that's it. My feeling is it's binding , and I don't want to force it.
Will it turn 360 degrees for you guys? It's something that I don't want to take apart if I can help it.

I don't recall it going around and around, since we don't use it very much, but I'm pretty sure I can do 270* or more...

Thank you guys. Mine is binding up for sure then. I'm going to see if I can persuade it a little more, but I feel if I put more pressure on it might break.

I can't guarantee this will work for you, but last time out mine wouldn't turn at all. Did some surfing on-line for a fix, and was able to fix it by removing the cap/plug on top of the antenna and spraying silicone lubricant inside, all over the gears that allow it to turn. It now raises and lowers better and turns in the full range of motion (not all the way around, but what it was designed for - probably 270 degrees or a little more). The advice I got was do not use WD-40 as it is not compatible with the rubber roofing material.

Thanks Chilidan, will give that a try. You mention raise lowering ? I thought it just spun left right.

I think you are referring to one of these KING Antennas... These only go left or right and does not crank up...

The other comments on here was referring to the standard crank up models that look like this. You can either use a KING JACK antenna or a BATWING mounted on the two bars on the roof that rotates left and right and raises up and down...

I use the BATWING antenna with the front mounted dipoles on my OFF-ROAD Camper setup...

If you have any plans of trying to "force" the situation, make sure you have some body on the roof watching and guiding what you are doing. Too much force and something is going to break. Lubricate well and try to find what is causing the bind. This is not the time to use a bigger hammer.

Thanks guys yes it's the King jack. We're gonna go out to the Oregon coast in a few days and I'll try some gentle lube and coaxing.

It does not go 360...............half way right and half way left.....don't force it or you will break it.

3 or 4 screws and the top comes off. Then you can see if you have a problem. Prior owner of my rig turned past 360 and broke the plastic tab. A couple more turns and the thin coax severed. I just replaced this antenna with the new Winegard Rayzar Automatic. So far so good.
