Loose screws...

Can someone recommend a product that will give screws that are stripped some bite?
I often roam the coach, searching for loose screws, which I tighten. But some no longer tighten. They just spin, having stripped the hole. It is hard to know if screws are going into wood, into metal, or what.
I would like to find a product that I could perhaps coat a screw with before tightening it -- and it would bite...
Thanks for any tips.....

Stuff the hole with toothpicks then drill your screw in. Works every time.

It really depends on the material you putting the screw into.

The toothpick trick is for wood and you can use use glue to help the screws to hold.

Into metal you need to use a product called loctite. This comes in various strengths depending if you want to take it apart in the future or not.

You can also increase the screw size but be sure you dont go any longer then the current screws.

Campers going down the road is like rolling earth quake!

On wood, Toothpicks work. I have also used some Gorilla glue; use very very little, as it expands, and can make a mess.

For metal on metal, Loctite works nice.

Like someone said, it depends on the location. If you are referring to the screws that hold the window valances and shades, you need a more aggressive solution. I used the expanding fasteners, the kind that are all one piece with a screw in the center, not the "butterfly" style. Check your local home improvement big box store. They only require a slightly larger hole and hold really well.
