Main Door Strut

Hello I have a 2009 31SS and need to replace the door strut on top. There are soo many sizes and pounds. The tube of strut is about 12" with about 2" inches of rod (14 inches total) when door is closed. Does anyone know what size and how many pounds this would be. Thanks

Many I have seen have a sticker that identifies the strength of the strut.

There should be a part number, and brand printed on the barrel of the strut. That can be cross referenced to find the pressure rating. There can be several pressures, with the same dimensions. A brand called SUSPA is a major player for them. Other than that, it's a call to a dealer.

Good luck, mine died too. I have been poking around looking for a replacement. The label on it has been useless. All I know about mine is it is considered a 20", 20 pound strut, that information I received from the local dealer.

Some research needs to be done here. My door strut ripped out of the frame two weeks ago just because how fast the strut opens the door and then gets just stopped at 90 degrees. If you open your basements doors (at least on the seneca) you will see that the doors start to open fast and then dampen toward the end of the stroke so it does not take as much of a shock. I have heard that some owners have taken their stuff back to Jayco and was told that they installed the wrong strut on the door. It should have the same type that is in the basement doors which dampen at the end of the stroke. I have a few things I need to have the dealer look at under warranty so I will prob bring it over to them after I winterize and fully unload it this weekend.

Well right now mine has zero lbs as I have to push door open , I don't really need anything with much force so I ordered the 20" with 10 Lbs. which should work fine. On another note a few yrs ago I put those aftermarket springs to the screen door so it will close on its own which Iam very happy with.
