26X1 Dinghy Tow Car

Looking to see if anyone out there has any experience. We just got the Redhawk this year and have been on 4 trips, one big one and a few small ones. We did a rental car 2 times and while it works we found it to be a bit annoying at times. We both drove Subarus, so those are out. I was thinking of keeping my commuter car anyway for my oldest son to drive when he is old enough, so now my thoughts are switching to just getting rid of it and buy a used 4-door Wrangler to dinghy tow.

I have 3 kids and plan to have 5 bikes as well. The Wrangler weight is around 4000 pounds for the ones I have looked out, doubt the bikes will put me over.

Tow Hitch capacity is 5,000, and I know I'll need the brake kit and dinghy tow rig.

Anything I'm missing here, any other 26X1s that Dinghy tow out there?

Thanks for the input, been reading a lot on here and as we have been planning our trips and setting up the RV.

We purchased a Jayco Greyhawk 29MV in Feb '16. I had done a ton of research about a dingy. For us it was an easy choice. The Subaru Forester (manual Trans). To assure ourselves that Subaru supported the idea of flat wheel towing the Forester, I emailed Support Services. I received positive verification that the Forester could be towed under simple circumstances.

Purchased the '16 Forester in March of '16 and now have some 17,000 miles of tow experience. And great gas mileage to boot. Seats five very comfortably.

I forgot to mention the Forester weighs 3,300 lbs. You will probably buy a new Forester for the same price of a used jeep.

Thanks Boudreaux! that is helpful, and yes, I'm learning the prices of used Jeeps are up there in price, but part of me just wants that extra toy to replace the motorcycle I gave up several years ago Needless to say, still checking around and evaluating options, probably won't pull the trigger till early next year, camper is going into winterization here soon.
