Missing Battery Tiedowns
While researching the 3rd fuel tank option, I found out the my Seneca batteries are not secured to the battery tray at all! The previous owner had installed a battery watering system. I wonder if that interfered with the hold downs?!?!
Nylon web straps would be the simplest but would that be appropriate given the proximity to battery acid? How are the batteries secured from the factory?
Pardon the saw dust. I cut and wedged some wood between the batteries so the tie downs wouldn't squeeze them together.
Pics of what I have...& don't have!
Why do some pics auto-rotate?

Those slots are for web straps. My OE batteries were held with them and when I added and moved the batteries I made up some new ones with clip buckles like you have on lifejackets.

Go to Harbor Freight, they have a package with 2 or 4 ties downs that will work for you. You can cut them to length.

Thanks for the replies. I just wasn't sure what was there in the first place. The slots seem to beg for a flat steel hook...or webbing.

Both my batteries have web straps that have been in place for 6+ years and no indication of corrosion on the straps.

Boats use the nylon straps for battery hold down as well, should not be any issues using the nylon straps.

Thanks for all the help, replies and especially the pic, RVermont. That is what I had pictured in my mind.
I couldn't find any straps with a flat hook so I decided to pad the slot with a small piece of wire loom and double wrap the strap. Heavy Duty, thick straps.
Results seem as good as the factory...for what that's worth! Time will tell.

Cheap but effective....
This has worked just fine. The end connectors are plastic so they will not rust. Battery acid destroyed the original straps very quickly.

Hmmm. Coming from a Jeeping/Offroad viewpoint, bungee cords as battery tie downs would not fly. Organized events would not allow that, if they checked. I tend to agree.
I was wondering if there was anything I could soak the straps in to balance out the pH of the acid to counteract the acid? Baking Soda solution?
