Washington State is a hands free state and this year, it became a moving violation meaning your insurance company will be notified.

Went in effect here in Tennessee on July 1st 2019. Cannot be in your hand if the car is on the street. My Garmin RV 770 bluetooth's with my phone.

Use of electronic devices [phones etc] is the new DWI problem. Just as it was for years, society seems to believe that freedom to use their phone while driving is a "right". I challenge that there are more distracted drivers on the road than there ever were from drunks. If you see a vehicle driving noticeably slower than the flow or a vehicle drifting in their lane, look into the car as you pass. 99% of the time you will see the driver holding the phone to their ear or visably speaking toward the dash control screen. DWI remains a problem but you are much more likely to encounter a distracted driver many times daily. It is madding that this is ignored almost everywhere.

We need laws that automaticly check cell records after an accident to document if the driver was on their phone prior to or at the time of the accident. This is no different than requiring a blood test if drinking is suspected.

I don't care if you wear a seatbelt. Your problem, not mine.

I don't care if you wear a helmet on your motorcycle. Too bad for you.

But driving while playing with your phone? I know a good place you can put that phone so you'll have hands free operation.

I look through the windshields of approaching cars, and it's amazing how many people are looking at their laps. Not just driving down the road, but in intersections. Beyond foolish.
