new to the site and jayco class C
hey folks, just picked up a 1990 Jayco classC 2300.
got it home Sat, been cleaning it out and slowing working on the electronics. So far we got all the 12V and 110AC working nicely. The newer Norcold 962 fridge seems to be working beautifully(thank goodness).
Next on the list is the Onan Genset(Emerald Plus 4K)...I need some "Do's and Dont's" I dont see any transfer switch or disconnect...does this mean I shouldnt fire up the Gen while connected to shore power?
also, if it is running, is there something stopping power from back feeding the shore power cable? If i coil the RV cable into its storage box...would it have power on the 3 prongs while Gen is running?
I didnt get any manuals with this camper, so far I d'loaded a couple for the fridge, a '89 jayco classC(very similar to what I have).
I noticed while cleaning...the hot water heater also looks to have a 110V wiring and switch. does this mean its both LP/110V?
and if anyone has a owner/operator manual for the Genset model # 4BGEFA26100k in PDF for d'load...I would really appreciate it. would this Gen also have points ing?
lastly...nice site! thank you,Chuck

Hey BlazinChuck - first of all welcome to the forum! If you have some time, come on over to the new member forum and introduce yourself.
We do not have a ton of users that have a Class C rig so sometimes you are often better posting technical questions in the technical forum.
I am not familiar with that unit, but many of the Jayco's have both a 110 and LP water heater. In fact, I can run mine on both and it heats up the water quicker.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum Chuck! Congrats on your "new" mh! Sounds like you have a project to keep you busy. Call Jayco direct and see if they can help you with manuals, parts needed, etc. They say that they can provide anything needed for any of the products they have made over the years. Good luck

Hey Chuck - I too am disappointed at the relative lack of activity on the Class C forum area. I actually have done what others suggest by posting in the tech forum, but often the issues I have are specific to a class C, not a travel trailer, etc. I can't fathom that there "aren't that many users" of Class Jayco Class C's. Where are all of them? It's not like I don't see a lot of units on the road.
I'm also disappointed that Jayco doesn't seem to monitor these forums. At least the tech person I spoke to on a couple occassions gave no indication that they monitored this site.
Phoenix Cruiser, a far smaller company than Jayco, has a ton of activity on their site and the company monitors and comments on issues from time to time.

Hey classact, we just started a poll on the Class C forum, perhaps we can juice things up a bit. Not sure why there is not much posting here, and almost zero on the Class A forum. As for Jayco giving input on issues or questions raised here, I`m sure we would all welcome that.
