No power to start generator
Redhawk 28XK with a Cummins Onan QG4000 generator. Recently disconnected battery to clean and top off distilled water. Reconnected to exercise the generator but now I don’t have power to start. Supposed to be an in-line fuse somewhere on the wiring harness but can’t find that.
Any help?

A common problem is a cable getting left off after replacing batteries.
Follow the positive cable. It most likely goes to a solenoid.

All cables are connected. All + cables are connected. Never took them off the solenoid. Checked fuses (5 and 7.5 amp) on the solenoid. Both are good.

Is there power from the battery?
Lights work
Water pump...etc
I'd say you didn't connect something. I ziptied all my battery cables so I don't miss one so this doesn't happen
Can u manually start at the Genny?

Yes to everything works. No power to the generator to start from inside the house or on the generator itself.

can't you just start the engine (chassis) to get a charge going to the house battery then fire up the genny in a few minutes?

Either dead battery, too low of battery, or missing cable on battery
As mentioned, if battery is dead, start the truck...run for like a minute, a d it should start charging house battery and the Genny will be able to be started

Have tried starting coach.
Battery isn’t dead. All cables connected. Everything inside house works.

The geny is a direct connection to the battery completely separate from the cable that goes to the rest of the coach. You probably have the geny cable on the negative battery post.

Did you figure this out? I have a 2022 Greyhawk and there is a button just below and to the left of the steering wheel that will use the chassis battery to assist in starting the generator. Someone needs to hold the button while another person attempts to start the generator. Also, at the generator there should be a breaker type switch that may be tripped, or in the off position.

No I haven’t. I’m pretty sure all ground and positive cables are connected properly on the house battery so I either have a loose connection somewhere or an inline fuse (that nobody knows where it is) needs replaced.
I haven’t tried using the auxiliary start for the generator. I’ll try that tomorrow.

Circuit breaker on the genset is for output only. Will not affect ability to run genset.

My theory..
I assume it worked before you removed all cables from the battery to fill and so forth
I'd be sure and dig behind the battery for any wires/cables not connected. Check each cable to be sure it's not loose on battery or at the other end connection

That's the best advice. If it worked before, check everything you did between working properly and before the failure. Perhaps another set of eyeballs will see something you missed.

It did work the last time we traveled. The next thing I'm going to do is check the battery and connections again with a multimeter. I just assumed since everything inside the RV was working without plugged into shore power the battery was good.

You need to start at the geny and see if you have 12 volt where the cable connects.
