On our trip from Delaware to Disney this past June. We lost our owan generator. I finally got around to fixing it. The gen set would start and then die as soon as you released to start switch. I replaced the control board. That didn't work. After some more research. I finally broke down and pulled the generator out of the Rv. I disassemble the side with the fly wheel and removed the flywheel. After polishing the brushes and the contact rings it now runs perfectly. Apparently this should be done with some gen sets routinely. That is not an option with the 4KYFA26100. The generator has to be removed from the rv and partially disabled to get to the sliprings. It can be done with basic hand tools and one wheel puller (for removing the flywheel). The unit isn't light so use a good floor jack and some lumber to support it. I wanted to share this info for anyone else dealing with this issue. I couldn't find any good info on the web and took a risk. Well worth not spending $3000+ for a new gen set. This whole fix only cost me about 4 hours of time and $13 for the puller at harbor freight with my only help being my 6 year old that just wanted to talk this morning. He's a good helper :-) if anyone has any other questions about this I'll help if I can. Thanks for reading.
