Running cables

I'm working with Winegard to get my satellite working correctly, they are sending me my 4th turret to install. The thought is my data cable is bad and I may have to run a new one. Anyone with any experience running cables from the top of your roof down into your camper. thinking you solar guys may have done it. I have a 2017 Seneca rb that has the front entertainment center.

Thanks everyone.

I had my son do the roof work for the installation of my 2 solar panels plus Direct TV dish. We routed the solar cables in through the fridge vent and then down. I drilled a couple of holes in the wood fridge shelf and then in the floor access area under the fridge to get the cables under my rig.

The cables for the satellite dish required a 1" hole be drilled in the roof. That indeed brought tears to my eyes. We cut the hole into the cabinet area above the door which is where many of the system cables were stuffed. The dish came with a cover for the hole which you screw to the rig and fill with silicone. Worked great.

We secured the cables to the roof with wire ties and stick-on bases. This prevents the cables from flopping in the breeze. Red arrows in picture show cables.

No leaks in the year I have had the dish up there. I made sure we used a good amount of silicon and did not skimp on the quality of silicone. I think it was a 25 year silicon purchased from Home Depot. Worked for me.

Recommend at the start you run a direct cable from the sat to the converter box and then to the TV. Do not use any splitters. One your satisfied it work the way you expect, then do your install.

Another option to bringing the cables into the RV are waterproof entry covers. Google "Weatherproof ABS Solar Double Cable Entry Gland" for dozens of choices.

Thanks guys for your comments I already have a cable running from my dish to my interior. Winegard thinks that cable maybe bad. My concern is, is the existing cable foamed in or attached in a way to prevent me from pulling a new cable through.
