Three weeks ago I received the recall notice about the defective bracket that holds up the hydraulic pump. Today I received another letter from Jayco telling me that recall 20V-548 should not have included 2016-2019 model year Senecas. I already had an appointment scheduled for January to install the bracket. I also temporarily strapped the pump up to the frame just in case.
I’ll have to come up with my own bracket design. After taking a close inspection of the welds in question; there was definitely not enough weld penetration to withstand the rigors of rough highway travel especially from Louisiana to the Texas state line.
This has been discussed here quite a bit and now Seneca owners are getting the letter stating they are not in the recall. I agree that the factory bracket is lacking and needs attention. In this link there is great info on a bolt on setup that user don_kleinschnitz came up with for a class C which could be adapted easily to the Seneca. With the S2 chassis I just made a support than bolts on and attaches to the exhaust support bracket.
I was inspired by the various mods to hold up the pump that I created my own bracket. It is based upon several shown here, but I used 1/2 square tube to support my bracket. I did not see any cracked or broken welds, but decided to add a support.
