Tank monitor calibration

I'm a new owner of a 2017 Jayco Greyhawk 29MV - how do I calibrated the holding tanks monitoring levels?

You can't. The standard monitoring system consists of metal sensors (basically a screw) drilled through the side of the tank at various heights. When liquid hits the metal the LED will light.

These sensors are not reliable as they can get crud on them and give false readings. I upgraded my monitoring system to the SeeLevel system which works great and is not susceptible to sensor crud.

There are two types of tank sensors.

1. Ones that have failed.
2. Ones that will fail.

Welcome aboard Captain!

The OEM sensors are mostly a joke. FW sensors are usually fairly good. Grey water sensors have issues from time to time. Primarily grease builds up and tricks the sensors. The BW sensors fail quickly. As others said, "Stuff" hangs up on the sensor probes that stick into the tank. Primarily TP gets hung up on the sensors and tricks the system in thinking it is fuller than it is.

Couple things you can do. If you want accurate tank levels you will need to switch out to a sensor like Sea Level. There are others. Make sure the TP you are using devolves in water. Grab two or so clean squares put them a small Tupperware container, with a cup of water. Give it a light shake, and let it sit for 30 minutes. If the TP has fully devolved, it is good for the BW tank. If not, find a different brand. Solution most people use to verify the BW tank level, involves a flashlight and looking down the hole.

If you are new to all of this, make sure to have lots and lots of water in the black tank.

Capt. Bill.....the monitor panel only shows percentage. I have a 2015 Greyhawk 29MV, so I suspect the tanks in yours are the same size: Fresh, 32.75 gal; Gray, 40 gal; Black, 33 gal. I'm going to make a stick-on label and put that under the panel so it is covered by the door over the panel when the door is closed. By the way, fuel tank is 55 gal.
