Have never really camped close to home, our trips, even when our sons were young were to areas that were longer than a day trip. I know people who go to the KOA in Copake and have good things to say about it. Years ago we went to Strawberry Park in Ct, which we enjoyed with our children; that should be closer to you. Now it's mostly my wife and I when we head out, and our rig is our "mobile motel". My older son and DIL have their own camper, so we look forward to going to some local campgrounds to spend time with our grandson.
