Smile Samlex Solar Panels.

After much research here and speaking to owners we purchased a Samlex M135 solar kit for our Jay Feather 23rlsw. We liked the warranty, the suitcase, the 135 amps, and ease of set up. They are carried by a local RV dealer who is noted for great customer service. We offered him the Amazon price (as we always do) and went home with it. We are very happy with the unit. We have a Yamaha Genny as back up but many public camp ground will not allow Gennys because of noise pollution. If sunny the kit will keep battery charged for at least 2 weeks. Less if cloudy or shady spot.

I didn't have Samlex on my 'shopping list' for a future solar purchase, but I do now.

I am not sure what you meant by, "If sunny the kit will keep battery charged for at least 2 weeks. Less if cloudy or shady spot." It would keep the battery charged indefinitely by adjusting what you take out of the battery, correct? It's not clear to me where the 2 weeks enter the picture.

Hi Old man and let's see if I can explain it. We run the lights, 2 showers a day between my DW and I so run the water pump. The radio is on a great deal one and once in awhile our awning lights and phone charger etc. The series 24 deep cycle battery poops out after about 2 days. With the panels and sunny weather the battery remains fully charged at about 12.6 volts for the full 2 weeks and we are ready to come home. If is cloudy or we have a shady site it needs the Genny after 4 or five days to come back to 12.6 or so as the panels are only half as productive. Yes if we reduced our usege, especially the pump, the solar might keep up but DW must have her morning hot shower.
I hope this is a better explanation.

I believe you meant WATTS not amps. For 135 Amps you would need about 20 SOLAR panels. Keep us updated!

Yup and thanks! You're on top of your 12v power use and it's all good.

Wink

Thanks for the correction Don. Mistakes like that are senior moments which I seem to have more frequently as I approach 70.

LOL!!!! I usually do my posts in MS Notes and cut/paste into the forum. Why, you ask.. so I can look it over and make sure that my thoughts made it to the document correctly. I know what you mean.
