2018 jayco 30.5

i was really close to buying a 2018 Jayco ht 30.5 . we loved the layout and thought that Jayco was a well built 5th wheel . what we didn,t know was that jayco was bought out by thor . after reading about all the problems that other people are having with similar rvs on here we decided to cross Jayco off our list . i,m so glad i found this site befor I made a very big mistake .

Good luck finding any manufacturer that doesn't have quality issues. All 3 of my 5th wheels did. 98 Keystone, 09 Forest River and now 17 Jayco. So will my next unit. But I don't regret any of the units and throughly enjoyed them. My current unit, Jayco is our favorite so far with the least issues and no majors. Jayco has a 2 year warranty when the others were 1 year.

Unfortunately it's just how it is. While you will pass on the Jayco that may or may not of had major or a lot of issues you will buy a different brand with the same exact gamble.

Don't know if a well built RV in any type or brand exists! Even 100K 5th wheels will have issues. If you did find one, I'm sure it would cost millions to have a mass produced hand built RV to be well built and perfect. Think Rolls Royce or Bentley in automotive terms.

hello mopar-earl , we have had three 5th wheels in our past and this one will make number 4 . all of them had few minor problems which for the most part I fix myself . I,m not expecting to find a perfect rv . but Jayco has just too many major issues , front cap fading , separating on over hang, and delaminating just to mention a few . i,m not saying this one will have all these problems but why take the chance when there is so many others out there with better reviews .

My 09 Forest River Wildcat had to have the entire right sidewall replaced for delamination. The replacement delaminated too. Lol that's as major as it gets. But it was a good trailer and served us well.
Front caps fading is an industry wide issue, not just Jayco.
The separation deal on the gooseneck is also industry wide. Fixed by larger longer screws into the frame instead of thin wood or air. All 3 of my 5th wheels needed repaired.

Please post back on how your other brand does. I bet it will have issues. Maybe a nice Airstream? I'm sure they have their issues too. Never had the privilege to own or work on one of those. But I've been in and worked on 10k to million dollar units.

I had a pop-up, travel trailer and 3 5th wheels. I also worked as an RV tech for a while at a large high volume multi brand dealership. So when I say all manufacturers have low quality control, I know first hand. They are slapped together in volume by hand with profit driving everything. They won't and can't be issue free. Can't compare it the automobile industry.

we pretty much started the same way . from tent camping to two pop-ups then to two travel trailers and three 5th wheels . our first 5th wheel we bought used was an escaper not sure who built it , I can,t remember what year it was but it was nice and did start to delaminate here and there but no water ever came inside . I guess when fiberglass gets to a certain age it just goes to hell. then we moved on to a 2002 arctic fox which was great . we hated to let that one go . but we did and moved up to a 2011 kz Durango which we currently have now with very little issues. whats your opinion on grand design

And you're only hearing from those who have had issues. The people with units that have been basically flawless never post. You can go to any forum and find exactly the same thing you find here.

The disgruntled post and the "Happy Campers" only go camping.
