2019 Pinnacle Questions

Does the Pinnacle come with mounting brackets for shocks? Can you have shocks installed at the factory on a order? Are the springs mounted above or below the axles?

If you don’t get answers by the morning, my pinnacle is a mile away and I have to run over there anyway. I’ll take

Axles are 3” diameter and are mounted above the springs. There appear not to be shock mounts but I honestly did not know what to look for. No obvious flanges or brackets with bolt holes.

Wow those are some hefty looking springs. Are you running the stock 16" tires? Angus, thanks so much for the information!

Yes the tires are the Goodyear Enduance R16’s, E Rated. I’d be curious to know folks opinion of them.

Once upon a time I was a general aviation mechanic, so now the term “landing gear” has a whole new context as I learn about RV’s

I have the Goodyear Endurance on my North Point. With 7,500 miles on them, they look like the day we took delivery. Very impressed..........don't know if I would spend nearly twice as much for a G rated tire when it comes time to replace them.

We have the Goodyear Endurance tires and are very happy with them. IMHO they are at minimum comparable to the Maxxis tires we had on our Eagle.

X2. We have over 12,000 miles on our '18 Pinnacle 36 FBTS. The Endurance tires are still at 6/32", meaning only 2/32" used. Even if they were to wear at an accelerating rate, we should get 20k - 25k out of them. They ride well and hold their air pressure extremely well - with outside air temp range of 15 to 90+ degrees for us. I highly recommend a TPMS (including a repeater for a trailer this long). If my experience plays out, I will readily spend the $200 / tire to replace with the same after that many miles.

Thank you guys about the opinions on the tires. It’s one thing to get info from dealers, vendors, and brochures. It means more to hear from people with miles under their belt.

Fair travels
Angus

I changed the China bombs to the Endurance because I had enough of my trailer being at the dealer for repairs. I couldn’t stand the thought of a blowout and the damage it would do.
The tire guy told me to come and feel the sidewall difference when he pulled of the first tire.
Night and day! I could almost fold the original tire in half, it was so thin.

We had 2 blowouts on our first fiver plus a number of sidewall bubbles form. Our new Eagle has the Endurance tires, We have around 14,000 miles in the first year and a half and it is obvious these are much better tires than the Chinese or Goodyear Marathon imports. Looks like we will get around 25,000 miles
on them based on wear.

The Endurance tires are the current favorite across all the boards I have seen.

2019 Pinnacle 36KPTS

Hello, my wife and I are wanting to trade in our current 5th wheel which is a 2017 Denali for a 2019 Pinnacle 36KPTS. Does anyone on in this forum own a 36KPTS? What issues, if any, have you had with your RV? I know from my research that all RV's are going to, at some point, have problems. Overall, is the Pinnacle line of 5th wheels a good RV? We had been looking at the Montana's, but after walking into a 36KPTS, we basically fell in love with the layout and all of the windows, and the amount of counter space and interior storage. Thanks for your input. John

John, I dont have a pinnacle I actually have a north point. The build quality on the north point is great. Its plenty strong. The pinnacle is definitely notably better. After looking at Montanas and north points I went with the north point for a few reasons. 1 warranty jayco warrants north point and pinnacle for full time use (actually says in the warranty) also jayco is a 2 year bumper to hitch warranty vs Montana is 1 year bumper to hitch and 3 year structural. And Montana says nothing about coverage or not for full time use. This tells me jayco will stand behind their products better. I also did the what I like to call the island test. Go inside and lean against the island. Pinnacle, north point dont move at all. The Montana dose. Now drive it up and down the the road a few thousand miles and see what happens. If they cant build a solid island how can they build the entire trailer to last. Pinnacle as a reputation of superior build quality ask anyone that's owned one. Montana your gonna get a mixture of good and bad. I have never ran across anyone bad mouthing the pinnacle. Just think on that.

On a Pinnacle, you're asking for blowouts if you are running Load Range E tire. You should upgrade to the Load Range G but that will also require new wheels. Jayco offers it as a upgrade to their 5th wheels which tells you they think the E is marginal for a Pinnacle.

Maximum load per tire on the Endurance tires they’re spec’ing on the new ones is 4080 pounds. Most G rated tires I’ve seen are no higher.
I have zero concerns running the 255/16 E rated Goodyear tires. I also don’t see an upgrade option on the Pinnacle to a different tire.

Goodyear G-614 is 3,750 so as you said the 255 Endurance is better.
