42" TV in a 28.5RSTS?
We will be living in our FW for several months and not sure I can deal with the transistor radio sound of the 38" Furrion television that came in our Eagle ST. So was thinking of upgrading before we leave in 3 weeks. Anyone have suggestions on a TV possibly a little larger and better sound quality? It appears we can go a couple inches larger.

I know the tv is junk but if the only problem is the sound you could pick up a nice sound bar for it.

Thanks, I'm not tech savvy, so didn't even think of that. I assume it would plug right in?

I have seen optical audio, Bluetooth , and av cable sound bars. Just need to see what audio out your TV has.

I run our sound through the stereo system when the tv is on for that very reason. Both tv and stereo came in it are Furrion.

On mine the stereo is not wired to the tv out so it only works while watching a DVD. One of my projects this winter is to run audio out from TV to stereo.

Sorry for the late reply, I had to help my neighbor dump his tanks for the first time. Anyway, here is a pic of the rear of the TV...

If it was me I would get spliters for the rca cables (the red and white ones) run new rca cables from the spliter to a sound bar. Just need to make sure the soundbar you get had rca inputs.

Thanks, I am still in the shopping faze on the net. There are a ton of different brands, models and sizes out there, it is mind boggling. I just need to realize I only need it for a relatively small room and don't go overkill on it. Currently looking at a 28" Visio but who knows what I will end up with. Thanks a lot for the help.

Possible options:
* TV's have built in speakers but they can output to different devices in addition or stand alone.
* Our stereo system allows you to change the input to the TV and the TV comes through the stereo speakers instead.
* You can add an inexpensive sound bar but they do require power, you'll have to find a place to put it and will likely need to attach to the TV as well.
* If you decide to change out the whole TV, keep in mind that smart TV's don't typically come with a TV tuner card, so hooking an antenna up won't do anything. If you don't want free OTA TV don't worry about it. Otherwise get one with a TV tuner build in.
* A new TV will also require manipulating the TV mount it's attached to. I'd measure the spot where it's at to make sure it'll fit.
Side note: Our TV came with a tapered back so when you pushed it back in, it snugged up nicely. The replacement TV didn't have that, so it doesn't fit flush like the last one.
Good Luck

My story, your mileage may vary:
Our White Hawk came with a Jensen TV (think Furrion quality here). The speakers sounded like a 1950s Japanese transistor radio, very tinny. Replaced it with a Samsung smart TV for around $200.00. Hooked it up through the ceiling speakers and, well to be honest, the new TV speakers sound better than the ceiling speakers.

I decided against a new TV until I at least try a soundbar. I cannot figure out any way to use the Furrion head unit to control the TV sound so this is the only option. Fortunately, there is a 120 outlet behind the TV and I just ordered a new 20" Visio soundbar for it. So hopefully it is an easy hook-up.
Thanks for the advice.

Got it installed today and it made a BIG difference. Thanks for the tip! It was a straightforward install. Just disconnect the RCA jacks on the back on of the TV and hook up the included ones in the kit. That was it besides the power cord. It has all kinds of settings to play with I haven't bothered messing with yet because it sounds fine as is. It also came with an optic cable that is supposed to be the best hookup, but I have no port in the back of the TV for it, so just used the RCA's.
I did have to drill 3 large holes in the wood framing behind it for the plugs to go through. I could have draped them over the wood, but I would be able to push the soundbar back flush with it. If I didn't I was afraid the heat from the fireplace would hurt it. As it is now, it should be fine. I checked the dimensions on others and most were too tall and would not fit under the TV. This one fits absolutely perfectly. Another project done to make life a little nicer when we start living in it in about 10 days. Easily worth the $65 I paid off ebay for it....

Visio is a great product and 28" should be all you need. My new coach came with a JVC and I wouldn't recommend it

We swapped out our Furrion TV for a 40” same size LG. Unfortunately the bracket holes are different. Once we got the new TV we discovered that the remote eye now sits just below the ledge and now we have to stand up right next to the TV with the remote to change channels. Ugh. But the new TV is so much better!
