5500 insurance

I now have a Dodge Ram 3500 C&C. I am looking to upgrade to a new 5500. I was told by my insurance company that they no longer insure incomplete trucks. Where can I get insurance on a Ram 5500 C&C used for RV towing?

Have you started to call around? Lots of insurance companies out there.

So what makes the 5500 an incomplete truck. I suspect it has something to do with C&C (chassis cab). Put a flat bed on the back end. I could not image having a truck with no bed of any type on the back, not very good for hauling other stuff.

I suspect the C&C setups have caused a lot of insurance claims from a lot of road spray blinding people, and debris getting kicked up. (I see a lot without fenders, which is illegal in some states, but not all)

Between incomplete, commercial intended and the high grossing weight, those heavier trucks are hard to insurance under personal auto insurance. Some do, some won't. More that won't.

An incomplete truck is any truck that is manufactured with out a bed. You can add a bed but it is still considered an incomplete vehicle. I now have a 3500 C&C and had no problem getting it insured a few years ago. I do not know what changed.

My reply was in general for all members. I have a 3500. Pondered a 5500 for a good while. Too much hassle with buying a bed and getting it insured.
As far as who will cover it? No idea. You need to call around and find which ones will and get quotes. I'm sure one or so people will tell you who they have. I'd call all the national brands first. Might have to go commercial. Some insurance companies have a commercial dept.
