Air Bags on 5th Wheel trailer

This may be a stupid question, but is it an option to put air bags on the axles of my 5th wheel trailer to gain the added height I need when traveling? Trying to look at all options as I have a 6" lift on my truck. Axles are already under the springs from Factory. 2017 29.5 BHOK.

Thanks

Air bags are load helpers, not for lifting. That's going to wack out your suspension. Also raising the trailer that much will most likely put you over the height clearance limit.

I'd removed the lift kit. Lift kits aren't towing friendly.

I have seen it done, but I understand they only used them to lift the trailer, to get in and out of their driveway. Not for cruising down the highway.

I have to agree with Earl on this one, their should be another way, like get bigger size wheel or to flip the axle but either way I would look into this more which this is a start.

You take me back the early seventies when we shackled up our GTO or air shocks to put oversized tires on. Wow those were the days.

Have you thought of a drop hitch receiver?

A 6" lift isn't the end of the world but it doesn't help when trying to hitch up the trailer. You could put blocks under the front legs (I use Anderson) to raise it up and still have some room to hitch up. Problem will probably be more about the ride. I like to keep the nose down on my 5'r to reduce air drag and lower the overall height. You may be able to adjust the hitch a bit to raise/lower but you'll want some bed rail clearance for articulation. Sucks if the bed hits the fiberglass nose on the rig. Check the springs on the axles too. Sometimes they can be moved a notch to make it taller overall and give more wheel clearance. My 5'r comes with 15" wheels from the factory but we opted for 16", so they're a bit taller. You might consider bigger wheels/tires. The combination of all this should get you where you need to go. - Good Luck!!
