Best way to get a hold of Jayco? MorRyde Orbital Pinbox fail

So the hardward included for the wedge on the MorRyde Orbital pinbox was not long enough and ended up stripping (only held on by 2 threads) while going around a curve which caused the unit to shift violently to the passenger side and slammed into the back of my truck. Luckily, it looks like damage is minimal (still want a structural inspection though) and I've informed MorRyde and they have been response but I have YET to hear anything from Jayco.

I've seen multiple emails and I've been on hold forever. This is a very serious situation where if this had happened to me 30 minutes earlier, could have been a much worse outcome due to sharp curves I was traveling.

Does anyone have a direct contact I could use?

I can provide photos later to show what happened, but for now, I just need to get a hold of someone at Jayco.

They will probably send you back to Mor-Ryde since in the end each component has a manuf warranty. Best bet is to contact your dealer for assistance first.

JAYCO has a contact page on their web-site.

Jayco will want you to go through a dealer, this is where the process starts.

Who installed the wedge? There are different length bolts included with the pinbox. The installer probably used the wrong ones.

I did and I used the longer (2") bolts. They need to be at least 1/4" if not 1/2" to full engage the threads. It appears MorRyde did not account for the recessed depth before the threads start in the hitch.

So you installed it yourself? That could be their loophole

Yes, per their supplied directions for the user.

Then JAYCO would be out of the picture completely in my opinion.

“Best way to get a hold of Jayco...”

By the throat if I have many more issues with this brand new 5th wheel!

Joking of course but I’ve listed 14 issues that I’ve had to repair since picking up a brand new 2019 unit approximately 6 weeks ago. Many of them the usual minor shakedown bugs but 3-4 major issues. Dealer was absolutely useless, and I mean useless!! Pretty much left us stranded on our first trip out. Luckily we’ve learned to make the first outings in a new rig fairly close to home so I was able to go get tools and materials I wouldn’t normally carry on a camping trip, and we were able to finish the weekend jaunt and limp home. What bothered me more than anything is I didn’t get so much as a follow up call from the dealer to see how we made out or ask if we needed an appointment for service. Like I said...USELESS!

In making the repairs myself, I’ve come to the conclusion that 99% of the issues we experience aren’t necessarily poor quality components but rather poor workmanship on the assembly line, laziness to put it bluntly. These things are thrown together as quickly as possible and it shows. Electrical connectors not seated correctly, hardware not tightened. The dealer PDI’s are, for the most part, a joke and lord help you if you need anything from a service department.

It seems unfair to tar all the dealers with the same brush but let’s be honest, the really good ones are few and far between.

Carry On Camping!!!

Thanks for your lack of help regarding this post.
Jayco via Facebook is on top of it and their warranty manager has called me.

Thanks. Jayco called me and asked a bunch of good questions. They also contacted my dealer and are handling everything beautifully so far.

Jayco via Facebook Messenger is the way to go to get a hold of someone quickly.

Fairly rude response to his opinion if you ask me. You admit to having done the install yourself, on a product that isn’t manufactured by Jayco. Seems to be a very logical piece of input. Maybe a thanks for that viewpoint is more appropriate and be done with it.

Everyone on this forum is here to help and even supply different approaches and views on things.

Best of luck in getting the ordeal worked through.

Thanks for you input, but the point of this post was to see if anyone had a better way to contact Jayco than their contact page. I was not looking for opinions.

As far as installing it myself, I've worked in the auto industry for years and am ASE certified. I know what I'm doing.

Turns out MorRyde included the wrong hardward which is 1/4" too short, exactly the length that I said it needed to be. They have concluded that I am not liable and are handling things with Jayco and my dealer.

Thanks. They have really been on top of this, due to the severity I assume.
