Disk brake conversion

I have seen some references to electric over hydraulic disk brake conversion, but cannot find anything by anyone who has done it. I am considering Kodiak and am looking for info on where to install the actuator. I have a 2017 327 ckts.

There were several posts here by people that had it done or did it themselves. Try doing a search on hydraulic disk brake conversion. I was interested in it myself. I do know that your brake controller has to be capable of electric over hydraulic brake operation.

I recently had this done. I had the pinnacle back to the dealer 3 times for weak brakes, and was convinced they were not going to be able to fix them. I contacted performance brakes and they had 2 guys perform the install at my home. So far, night and day difference. Would highly recommend them.

This company probably sells the best conversion kits:

Thanks for the info about Performance. I had a quote from them last week for $1675 for their kit and 1,000 for the install. I think I can do the install myself, but I am not sure of the best place for the actuator. I understand that the closer it is to the wheels the better the response time. My last 5th wheel was a Titanium and the actuator was very accessable via a side cargo door.

I've been considering it. I'd rather do the full Moryde IS w/disc though. Maybe next year.

Looks like Jimgram did one long 3000 mile trip and had tires worn bald with the new disc brakes? The thread never did say what he found out about the cause of the wear.

On the pinnacle, there is a cargo area on the passenger side at the front that holds a third propane tank. They put mine there. I was carrying the grill tank there and it still fits fine.

Wouldn't of had anything to do with the brake change.

Does the new disc brake replace the EZ Lube berings or is the disc hub designed for ez lube if ordered correctly

I purchased the kit from Performance and mounted the Titan actuator in the front compartment above the batteries of our 323LKTS. It is mounted on the propane tank enclosure and seems to work out well in that location.

Thanks, TLG. That sounds like a good place
I think I have room between the batter box and propane tank compartment. Did you run your brake lines in the under belly or on the outside of the frame rails? Any pictures?

Not sure if your situation is closer to TLG's or mine.
There is a generous space between the battery box and the back of the propane tank enclosure that allows the brake line to drop down to the inside of the frame. I drilled a hole through the frame and installed a grommet to protect the line. The line passes through to the outside of the frame which I felt was a better location for protection and future inspection to run the line to the back. In this location, the actuator is situated in close proximity to wiring points and is well protected. All 4 wheels had the brake grease issue since I aquired it used but never camped in. This was my first and hopefully last experience with electric brakes. I essentially had no brakes until I did the conversion. Keep in mind that there is a short break in period for the disc brakes when new. I have no pictures to post at this time. Perhaps I can take a picture and post later when it warms up a bit around here. I am very pleased with the braking response and I am using the factory controller in my 2011 Ram.

bumping this as I want to get discs on my 2018 377. We have a lot of trips planned this year, including heading out to Estes Park. Anyone have expereience with the kodiak setup? Or is performance trailer braking the only thing the group recommeds? Thanks.

I am going with Kodiak, I bought all the parts here in Florida last week and they are being installed next week. Total cost will be 2100-2300. I'll let you know how they work after the install
