Electrical problem

Our electric fireplace in our 2016 eagleht suddenly quit working. Our warranty just went out acouple of days before it happened and our extended warranty does not cover it. My husband took it out and plugged it into a home outlet and it worked. He checked all breakers and used a voltage meter and found that the problem was no power was going to the outlet for the fireplace. Checked gfi outlet too. Our service dept is booked up for a couple of months so trying to find problem. Husband has electrical experience but this a mystery. Looking for suggestions

Check the breaker that feeds the outlet, It may be tripped.

Turn ac off at the breaker that supplies power to the outlet. Remove the 2 screws and pull it out. It's likely a loose wire in the back of that outlet. It should be on a dedicated breaker.

In my rig that outlet was mounted on a panel that was easy to change out to a conventional residential outlet. I just installed a duplex outlet so I could power a sound bar from there.

I believe that the fireplace has its own dedicated breaker. I would start by checking the breaker in fuse box

Pull the outlet out & check the wire for voltage .
Test black to white also black to ground . Both should be 120v or close to. If not then go to the breaker & test directly on the breaker. If you have power @ the breaker but not @ the plug then you have a broken wire assuming it is on a dedicated circuit. If it is not dedicated circuit then you'll have to find the outlets before the fireplace & check the wiring at those. As someone else mentioned before I would suspect a poor connection on a outlet somewhere. That's my 20 yrs of electrical experience for you.

I'm not farmilar with the 5ver's with a fire place. I would start with a call to Jayco, with your Vin number. Let them know what is happening. They might authorize a repair. Next ask for the wiring diagram. With the wiring schematic, you will know if there is anything else on the circuit. The outlet might have gone bad, so I would also pull the outlet, and use a multimeter and check for power at the terminals.

Added thoughts, sometimes circuit breakers go bad to. That also reminds me, when I bought my htt, a lot of the terminal connections behind the circuit breaker panel where not tight, a lot of people had issues. I checked mine and most where not tight, so the wire connections may vibrated loose during your travels.

Thank you everyone for the advice.Finaly found problem with a wire.Had to go thru storage compartment and remove panel to get to it. Improperly installed in factory, wire was cut too close and not making a good connection.

Great sleuthing! My general opinion is that campers that can “DIY” are the “happier campers”.
