Wink Hitches - Need Advice!

Going this weekend to pick up our FIRST 5th wheel. After 5 years of waiting and researching, it's FINALLY HERE! Can't lie, excited and NERVOUS! We thought it best to just let dealership install the hitch.

Have done some research on hitches, and think we want the B&W rail saddle mount model. (sorry if using wrong terminology)

We have a 2016 Ford F250 diesel. Can I get some input and advice from others?

Also, any advice relating to purchase day would be welcomed as well. We already printed out the "Walk Thru" checklist and plan to spend first night on dealership property to ensure we know what we're doing and verify any problems before we head home which is 90miles away.

Thank you, love this website by the way! Everyone is so helpful just like a big Jayco family!

Do you have the factory ‘pucks’ in the bed?

B&W makes a great hitch. I used one for a long time.
As for the PDI it looks like you have done your homework. Do not be in a hurry.

You will be overwhelmed.

Make sure you walk on the roof and check out all the seams on the roof as well.
Look at the slide out rubber seals also.(Inside and outside)

We have a B&W Companion that mounts to the factory pucks and it’s convenient and has been trouble free.
If your TV is a short bed and the hitch you get is a non-slider check your cap to cab clearances carefully. I broke out my back window thinking I could make tight turns. Still have the same setup but am cautious when maneuvering.

Hitches - Need Advice!

I apologize, I accidently deleted my initial post. Still trying to get the hang of this forum posting!

Anyway, someone responded and asked if I had the Ford puck system. The answer is NO.

After more researching, my husband is considering either the B&W rail system which is the B&W RVK3200 16k system or B&W turnoverball system 20k

He likes the turnoverball system (I think its $300 more) because the ease of getting out the "saddlemount" since it's in 2 pieces and less evasive to your truck regarding overall install. And when you take out the actual hitch, you have nothing in the bed of your truck.

THOUGHTS?

Either one of the B&W systems are very well built. Either one would suit you very well. As for the rails in the bed, I have had rails for longer then I have actually owned fifth wheels. The thick rubber bed liner in my F350 was almost even with the rails and I don't have anything more then a spray in type liner in my Dodge. I hear more whines and complaints from people that they interfere with loading the bed. Never have I had that problem. Also, my 22K Reese hitch comes apart in 3 pieces if I need that to happen for install/removal. Usually I only have to remove the head assembly to make it easier to move by myself. There are so many options out there it will make your head swim. Find what works best for you and your application and you will be happiest that way!! Good luck and welcome to the family!!!

The turnoverball would be my choice also if you do not have factory puck system.

You should also consider the Reese Goose Box instead of a 5th wheel hitch, if having a clear pickup bed is important to you.

The Goose Box is warranty-safe, and replaces the pin box on the trailer. You'll still need to have a gooseneck ball installed in the truck, but you won't have to buy a 5th wheel hitch or deal with loading and unloading it.

And the Goose Box will save about 100lbs of weight when the entire pin box/hitch is taken into account.

I have the Goose Box, and it's been great.

Thank you all for your responses!
We went with the turnoverball hitch.Total costs with tax $1,832, compared to quote for railsystem of $1,200. Hate spending extra money but love the fact that we can pull a gooseneck or a 5th wheel and when hitch not in use, have full use of our truck bed! Not mention the fact that the hitch/mount come in 2 sections which makes it much easier to remove vs lifting 150lbs!!!!

I can hear the dealer now..."our insurance doesn't allow customers to walk on the roof."

In that case ask "where is the tall step ladder."
