Landing Gear Failure

Picked up our fifth wheel from our storage lot when our landing gear failed. One leg retracted while one did not. Luckily we had already hitched up and just needed to get to the dealer for other repair work and upgrades. When we got there we find out a plastic gear had worn out. We have only had our camper 2 years. It's under warranty which is great but I am concerned about this happening again and not being so lucky. This is what holds up the entire front of the 10,000 pounds we stay in! Anyone else have this happen? I read these threads and I don't recall ever hearing this. Is there an upgrade for this? LOL

I have a 2002 FR Cherokee that has the original landing gear. The slide has a replaced drive, the furnace, AC, fridge and propane tanks have all been replaced...not the landing gear. Roof has dicor on it. Not planning on it either. It has settled onto it's blocks with four flat tires and has been skirted and covered with a carport.

Can they give you the part number? Then you can search for a metal replacement or have a shop mill one for you.

I had to replace the complete leg on a previous 5r. They did not make replacement parts and I could not find the bevel gear (teeth chipped) for it. Lippert uses subcontractors. Good Luck.
