Question Leaf Springs

I have a 2015 38' Jayco Eagle with the typical leaf spring arrangement on both axles. I would like to lift the trailer frame further off the tires as they have apparently bottomed out a little. I note the two exterior leaf spring hangers on each side have an additional bolt hole about 2 inches beneath the bolt holes where the springs are currently attached. It seems practical that if I moved the springs to the lower hanger holes it would lift the trailer further off the tires. The interior hangers are the typical rocker arm mechanism and show no means of adjustment. I also wonder, if by doing this it seems the two tires would come slightly closer together. Is there a minimum spacing distance? They are about 2" apart right now. The trailer is not overweight and the suspension is not worn. Thanks.

Yes, those lower holes are for raising the trailer. Sounds like your leaf springs are undersized or they have lost their arch. Do they appear to have a good arch when loaded or do they look more flat? My previous 5th wheel the leaf springs started loosing their after a couple of years. Lippert items. I swapped out the Lippert axles with Dexter axles with springs attached. Solved all my issues. I also went from 5200 lb axles and spring to 6000 lb axles and springs.

What length is your equalizer links? If you have long ones, shorter ones will raise the trailer too and match the other.

Since your tires are so close together already, I suspect bad springs or underrated springs.

I would be a little suspicious of my springs if it is bottoming out. Maybe post a picture. Sounds correct that the holes will raise the trailer. This should not make any difference to the tire position.

If you need new springs take the time to consider your options.

If you do not have them now would be the best time to add heavy duty shackles and wet bolts. Also look into adding extra bracing with something like the MORryde x-factor.

Thanks for the replies. The axles are the 6000 lb variety. The springs appear to be robust. I will try the lower hanger bolt holes first. I am not so sure about lengthening the links between the rocker and springs. Seems like that would allow the tire to rise up farther than shorter links before encountering the spring's resistance. Thanks again. I really like this forum.
