Maiden voyage issues

We headed out this weekend past with our new 2018 Eagle HT 27.5 RLTS. Supposed to be relaxing and get to know the new trailer. We came home this morning and the trailer was dropped off at the dealer with some issues. Switch for electric hot water would work but not light up. Saturday night noticed towels under bathroom sink were wet. Took a closer look found out that the p trap was cracked. Sunday we noticed a water drip on door side of trailer. Figured it was just condensation or rain from the previous night. Later in the day the drip was still there so time to investigate. Removed a panel and sure enough where the connector threaded onto the water port wasn't tight. Took pictures. While packing up this morning my wife went to get something out from under the kitchen sink and everything was wet. Another p trap leak. Then while disconnecting water noticed a drip under water connections and after removing panel there was another leak. Should I be worried. Is this just the beginning?

Unfortunately, it sounds like the plumbing on your unit was completed on a Friday. That's why I like Jayco's two year warranty. I had more problems with that on my new Open Range tt. Once I got the bugs worked out, everything was fine. You have two years to work the bugs out before you start paying for it. Also two years to figure out if you want to buy the extended warranty or not.

New 2018 with cracked P-traps? Could it have sat in freezing weather with water in the traps? Seems odd to have that many cracked. Welcome to the world of camper ownership! It will be fine once you get these minor bugs corrected. Then enjoy!

Picked the trailer up yesterday. All repairs were done. Few things had to be ordered. We are heading out tomorrow and will find out then if everything was fixed. Dealer was more than accommodating.

Sounds like a good dealer to have.

When ours was new, I checked the water connections inside and found three were nor tight enough. Then I ran some hot water thru the faucets, and checked the hot side connections again, and tweaked them just a little while they were hot.

The issues with leaks and p traps is one of the reason why I sanitize the fresh water system at least once per yer and when I do I use the sink stoppers and put about a half a bowl of water in the sink and let it sit for awhile and then check for leaks around the drain flanges. I have found then a few times. After about thirty minutes drain the sink and watch for leaks around other drain connections such as P traps.

To check for water feed line leaks I use my air compressor set to 40 PSI. If there are leaks you will hear the air escaping. This is a good thing to do first thing in the spring when de-winterizing a unit.

You sound like a vigilant family. And, you'll need to be until you get those bugs worked out. I would follow up with Jayco warranty dept. Name/dates. Jayco warranty is very good with submitted claims, dealers often drop the ball when submitting the inter-departmental request. And you could call your dealers parts department for a follow up. Customers active involvement helps timey completion.
