More tail lights

Anyone ever add some tail/stop lights up higher on Eagle fifth wheel? I am concerned that covered bikes partially obstruct factory lights.

I looked into it a year or so ago but couldn't find any surface mount LED lights that would suit what I wanted to do. I changed to LED bulbs in the stock lights but they still aren't that bright.

I carry my bikes mounted in the basement now as I found they bounced around too much on the bumper hitch.

Eagle is a 2018 and has LEDs but I'm still concerned that bikes partially block them. Gotta use the rear rack-basement full.

I did add light to my North Point for the same reason the bike's are in the way of the lights. You can see my right up here at post #15.

What trailer do you have? Looks like your OE lights are LED as well. If we stay with the fiver after this winter I'll look into it again in the summer. I don't block the lights but they aren't very bright anyway.

I would check with DOT before dumping any money into changing or adding more SAFETY lights.

There is DOT regulation laws at play here if the RV is going to used on the PUBLIC roadways. Even the lens covers of these safety lights have to meet DOT regulations... DOT also has regulations laws on how many lights can be ON at the same time including how they may be turned ON - i.e. manual or in conjunction with other lights etc...

Being an OFF-ROAD enthusiast I have gone down this road a couple of times and all went well until I had to go for my Annual DOT SAFETY Inspection... I had to remove some of these items before I could be passed for my safety inspection.

Not against doing any of these changes just saying check with DOT before you add some expensive lights. It may not be approved to do so.

But even in inspection States, I don’t believe non-commercial trailers are inspected so why worry about DOT regs.

Why worry at all?

We installed a Class II hitch on the front of the truck and have a 2 bike carrier...no light obstructions front or back and no more bounce which we did have when using a ladder mount.
