New member and "possibly" soon to be owner of a TH5ver

Hello,
We are not new to RV, Heartland/Forrest River, but running away from them.
We are Marine Corps Vets and will be becoming empty nesters soon. Our son became a Marine last Nov and our daughter leaves for the Corps this summer.
We figure they can not move back in if they can not find us. Kidding, we are gonna full time and bounce coasts to visit them so they can use their leave for better things.
I have been reading through this sight for a better part of a month and have read just about every post from everyone. Some of y'all are living the dream,(nightmares are dreams too!) But some have been having a bad go at it.
Past experience and new knowledge has opened me up to some take aways in ordering my new camper.
1. Hire independent inspector to go over the rig before me.
2. Clean out AC ducts and AC units.
3. Film PDI walk through.
4. Verify everything works.
5. Block in and beef up suspension.
6. Add rollers and Teflon roll skids to main slide.
7.STAY AWAY FROM LIPPERT 2.0/3.0 ELECTRONIC LEVELING- ORDER UNIT WITH HYDRAULIC. Preferably BigFoot.
8. Replace battery bank and inverter/converter.
9. Become a Bob the Builder apprentice, and a MacGyver mentor and aquire a PhD in Jerry Rigging.
10. Relax, slow down and have fun.
Did I forget anything.
Oh we are looking at Seismic. Love the floorplans.
The only other competition is Grand Design and I hate the local dealer.

Looks like you have been reading the posts here concerning the Sesimic issues. Yet your still favoring the Sesimic? I suggest that in the 4 years since ours was built nothing has changed concerning quality and construction.

Yes, seismic has the only floorplans me and the wife agree with.
We are going into this knowing to order the unit with hydraulic leveling. Unfortunately Jayco will not let us order it with Bigfoot system.
From our previous pull behind unit, every and I mean every hose and cable was either wired wrong or bad connection. Our walkthrough was just that we did not know about making the dealer hook it up and run it test it we took their word they did. Batts were wired in series running a 24 volt system destroying everything electronic and if it was not for a small hissing sound probably would have burned down the trailer. The bats had over heated in storage(2 weeks) and had leaked acid over the frame wires and eat through the propane lines.
The slides, ok so understanding I will move rollers and install more, will also spend the coin to get 500:1 since they will not let me order it with them. However many of your posts have been copied and pasted (and others too) to the design engineer and quality control engineer who was not aware of Seismic problems. Have been seeing IF I can get updates for the 2021 units.
I understand full well of the problems I am going into and I am preparing for the worst. Found a dealership in Mississippi that has a "forever" warranty program and will be going thru him and his sons satellite dealership in Alabama.
That program has its flaws but covers the electronics AC heat and other things like leveling systems.
Your problems are things of nightmares and have been a learning experience for others to rectify prior to moving in.
I feel sorry for you and none of us should have to spend more coin than the 80k-125k we pay for.

Gene.

Welcome & Semper Fi. We were stationed at PI in the mid-70s. Just visited last year and so much has changed.

I am still pondering this statement "However many of your posts have been copied and pasted (and others too) to the design engineer and quality control engineer who was not aware of Seismic problems"
What? do you think they weren't aware of these issues already??
Come on, they are tracking warranty claims every month on what they build, how else do they price a unit with a 2 year warranty? It seems that a design engineer is giving lip service if my post have been copied and pasted to them. If so why haven't they made any changes in 4 years. Pic taken last week in shop over month.
