over stove exaust fan

On the over the stove fan unit The connecting cable between the speed slide switch and the fan and outer door disconnected or broke. Any thoughts how to access the inside of the unit to try and fix the problem? This is an 04 - 36RLTS Designer Legacy

Your unit is different than mine. I have a fan switch, but no speed slide switch. I have to unlock the vent from the outside. I hope my bumping this to the top helps.
No I am NOT retired. I work full time.:D
