Pinbox for Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Hitch

I will be ordering an Eagle HT this weekend, and weighing my options for choices of pin boxes. I plan to purchase the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Hitch for my F-250 Shortbed, and I'm trying to decide between the Morryde Rubber Pin Box and Reese Revolution. I do not plan on taking too many 90 turns, however I want to be able to do it safely in case it's needed. I am leaning towards the Reese Revolution, however I did contact Anderson to get their opinion, and they recommend the Morryde. I wanted to get feedback from folks with a similar setup.

It seems strange that they would recommend one over the other. Maybe give that advice some weight.

You can’t use both the Andersen and the revolution(unless the revolution is locked out), because it would create two pivot points. It’s one or the other. If you really want the Andersen, get the more Morryde. Your ride will be better with the buffered pin box.

I have a 2018 29.5BHOK and ordered it with the Morryde Pinbox. I also use the Andersen Ultimate 2. Nice and smooth pull. I was planning on towing with my 2011 F250 6.7 short bed, but a week before the rv was going to be built I traded in for a 2017 f350 long bed.

I also put a lot of time in searching if I could make a 90 degree turn with my short bed f250, some say you can, some say you can get very close. I wanted the larger factory fuel tank so I went long bed on the new truck.

As you probably know there are several ways the Andersen Ultimate can be installed, which could give you more room to make the 90 degrees. The block that attaches to the king pin can be bolted on with the ball socket either forward, which gives you more room between the cab and trailer. Or some people install the adapter with the ball socket to the rear of the king pin, which reduces your space between the truck cab and trailer. The believe the option with the adapter to the rear is only recommended for long beds.

I got about every option available on the 29.5bhok except the theater seating that is a hidden option. At least when I ordered it you could special request it still. Also didn't get the generator prep because I didn't like how fast I would burn propane. If you have any questions about the trailer I might be able to answer them.

I just received the latest copy of the Eagle HT order sheet and it looks as though Jayco has replaced the Reese Revolution & Morryde Rubber Pin Boxes with the Morryde Orbital Pin Box. It sounds like it combines the features of both options into one.

I will also be ordering the BHOK almost fully loaded including the Party Couch. I don't think we'll need the bigger fridge or dual pane windows, but I'll ask about upgrading to Theatre Seating.

I think I used the wrong word, I believe when I said theater seating I was talking about the "party sofa." What ever it is called that gets rid of the dinette and the table and chairs and makes it a couch all the way down the slide.

Being in the desert I needed the dual pane windows and dual A/C. The Morryde Orbital Pin Box sounds interesting.

The party sofa is a requirement for my family, as we rarely dine indoors unless it's really hot. Regarding the Orbital pin box, I did e-mail Morryde to get additional information and feedback on my setup.

When I contacted Andersen, they recommended not using any kind of cushioned pin box with their ultimate fifth wheel connection.

I also found some good information when I was looking at the ford trucks forums. Here is an example of so good information.

Thank you for the resource. We'll be putting going to dealership tomorrow to put the order in. I'm hoping they have a little more info on the new Morryde Orbital Pin Box.

Just FYI . We have an Eagle 321RLTS using only a standard extended pin box with Andersen. I have no reason to go to a diffe rent pin box as smooth towing now.

I'm assuming you have a long bed?

We're towing a 28.5 RLST Eagle with a F250 Super Duty and the 6'5" bed. We have had no problems using the PullRite ball hitch. Works like the Anderson, truck portion on weighs 60 lbs. Best hitch we have ever owned in 45 years.

Its not a pickup unless its a 8 ft bed . Actually 3500 Crew dually. I had one 3/4 crew shortbed in 2004 & hated it, just too used to a big bed.

Actually 2013 F250 four door, four wheel drive, 6'7" bed. Guess it's not a pickup but TN makes me call it that on the title!

If I could fit a long bed truck in the garage, I would definitely upgrade.
