Rear kitchen tow pros cons

Looking at 5ver with rear kitchen about 11K gvwr. I have always had a rear living unit. Any difference in towing? They seem to have more cabinets. Any other problems?
Thanks

Never had a rear kitchen unit, and some say stuff gets bounced around more in the cabinets. Our TT has a middle kitchen, and bath. We have to open up the cabinet doors VERY carefully, or else we get a face full of unbreakable stuff. Same for the medicine cabinet. If a rear kitchen floor plan suits your needs, go for it. I'm sure others will pop in, too.

No issues with our rear kitchen after the first year. I posted the same question on the Forest River forum and the responses were overwhelmingly positive.

Our 1st FW had a rear kitchen & wife loved it, especially since there appeared to be more windows in the unit. Never really had any problems with things falling out of the cabinets or the doors popping open. Enjoy!

We pulled our 2018 eagle 293RKDS over 1600 miles to Key West. One shelf came loose but I have to say we prolly had too much weight on it. Otherwise we like our rear kitchen a lot. I think it allows for a very efficient use of space, lots of storage, and head-on tv viewing.

I'm on my 3rd rear kitchen 5th wheel, never any issues. Love rear kitchens.

Ours is also an Eagle 293RKDS, 2017 year.

Our first fifth wheel was a rear kitchen. Loved the space and the flow always seemed great. Things do tend to bounce more but you do learn how to stock and pack things better. Look for a unit that does not extend too far behind the axles. The further it extends, the more bounce.

The only caution is stuff in drawers and cabinets.

Jayco advertises drawer slides as 75lb. Unfortunately if you put 10 or 20 pounds in one of the rear drawers some good bumps will break the bottom out of the drawer. So, keep the loads light and you'll have no problem.

Most of the time we have no problem. On two road sections we had some interesting 'whoops' bumps on the interstate. Some items at the back of the trailer went airborne, luckily nothing broke. We tie things down these days.

Check and see if the hinges on your refrigerator door are plastic and if they are its best not to transport heavy items during travel.

We have towed a Puma TT and now have an HT 27.5RKDS, both with rear kitchens and had no problems with either one. A couple of thing we found helps is using shelf liners, the no skid stuff, helps to keep things where they belong. We also use non breakable dish ware just in case.

We have a rear kitchen unit. It's very possible stuff may bounce more back there, but it's certainly not an issue that can't be overcome with taking time to pack things a little more carefully. Using bins with taller sides, matting, and insulating material come to mind.

As for a rear kitchen floorplan---we just love it. Whoever is in the kitchen area can do their stuff without interfering with what's going on in the main living room area. With most floor plans the kitchen is in the middle of the main living area, right where most activities take place, and sometimes in the line-of-sight where others watch TV.

It's all a matter of personal preference. Some folks love keeping the kitchen area involved in the primary action and also want anyone in the kitchen to have a good view of the TV, too. No accounting for needs or taste
