Residential refrigerator not staying locked
We have a 2018 Jayco eagle with a residential fridge. The only thing I don't like about it is the lock. We lock it and while traveling the fridge & freezer doors keep opening and all the food spoils. We also now have a nice ding in the door. Has anyone else experienced this?

You lock it how? Ours has a black strap with plastic snap buckles it came with that you wrap around both handles and it snaps together to hold them closed. I’m not aware of a lock built in. If your just hitting the lock button on the touch display that just locks the controls.

Mine came with a velcro strap to put around both handles. We also bougt the camco shelf bars to keep things in place inside the fridge.

We have the same latch and the same problem with it opening. Purchased a tie and haven't had any further problems.

I too have the same latch, both on my former North Point and now on my Pinnacle. Never had it come open............strange how some things work fine for some and not so fine for others

I have the same latch and had to bend it slightly so it would lock properly. I also use a Velcro strap around the handles just in case it fails. Your ding is from your small drawer to the left of the sink coming open during travel and hitting the door. I had the same ding when I did the PDI and had the door replaced. I then put a lock on the drawer so it will not open when traveling.

I cant see the latch in your picture but this is what ours looks like. So far ours seems bullet proof, but we have been on mostly interstates (some bad with a lot uf chucking) and maybe just 1,000 miles. We do use tension rods inside just in case.
Velcro strap maybe a good idea if there is doubt.

Sorry if the picture is sideways...

Velcro strap on my Whirlpool as well. Use this stuff for many applications...keeping water hoses coiled, extension cord coils, 50 amp power cord, etc.

Yep, we have the same latch. Yep, it pops open while traveling. Yep, we have a ding in the freezer door. And to fix, since we were at Menards, picked up sliding locks similar to these on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Dreambaby-Sli...%2C217&sr=8-28
So far they have worked. Now, to keep my beer from sliding forward while traveling!

That's simply brilliant. We haven't had troubles with our refrigerator latch but that's good insurance and easy. We use throw pillows stuffed in pantry closets to keep things steady and tension rods inside the fridge shelves to keep things held tight. Counter top items go in the sink and other shelf top curious and loose items go in the padded dog beds on the floor. So far no disasters.

We have been using a tie down strap and just wrapped it around the handles the last 3 days. I have to say the vent pillow is brilliant! I think I will be getting the home depot ties though. The tie down strap is annoying to take off. Once I am done with this trip I need to take the rig in to get the rear ac fixed and will chat with them about the dents in the door. I really didn't have much in the fridge and freezer. Most of the items that came out were on the bins on the door when we hit bumps in the road since it wouldn't lock.

Try these.
They have these at Lowes but HD should have them too. Easy to put on and reusable.

We just use a skinny little purple bungie with little hooks. Twice around both handles and it's secure. Never fails when we pack up to move on one of us has to ask "Where's the skinny little purple bungee?"
