Did JAYCO cover the repair? I have the same camper with a good amount of movement when hitched. Just wondering what this May cost if not?

Jayco was covering these out of warranty for a period of time. They’ve stopped doing it though per my dealer.

They gave me two options. The really expensive one which was pretty invasive and would probably be 5-10k or cutting a relief and adding trim over the gap. I took the cheaper route for $1100. Way cheaper to do yourself for sure, but I’m happy with it. My crack was pretty small, and I wanted to get to it before it grew in size and $$.

Yes - we got the unit back from Jayco, they did a phenomenal job. They communicated with me every week with updates by email. We had to completely empty the trailer, which was good and bad. The good we cleaned house, the bad was minimal.

The factory also fixed other issues, they did replace all gaskets.

Hats off to Jayco.

TxLoser…. Just curious what was the $1100 option you mentioned? We have a 2018 30.5 MLOK and I am just seeing the slightest crack starting so before it even begins to move I am thinking of options to address that now.

That was cutting a relief, then installing a matched trim piece over the cut and sealing that. Might have been more to it, but that was basically what they did.

Mine was very slight too. Seems like a good way to get in front of the situation.

Thanks for the reply and feedback. I have been following a lot of threads on this issue that also include issues with the trim sagging. Ours has been corrected for that condition and so far so good.

For the cracking issue taking it back to the factory isn't and option for us. I'm pretty sure I will be going the cut and trim route you described.

Cheers.

Mine was just starting too.
Glad I saw it before it got too big to cover with a trim.
Drilled the end of the crack and cut a relief.

That’s my NorthPoint. I watched all these crack threads happen over the years.
I made it almost 7 years crack free. Looks like it eventually gets ya.
I think it’s from poor Jayco build, rough roads, and no air hitch.

Ahh yes forgot you have a NP and this is just another issue you have had to deal with as well so I'm sure you are impressed!

Not sure if this is a Jayco issue however as it's really frame related. Jayco is not the only manufacturer building on the same Lippert frames where cracks occur so in this case I will cut them some slack.

However not sure why it took them so long to start building rigs with the relief already built into the sidewall. Hence I guess the rather popular and lengthy threads on this issue in the forum.

I am likely going to end up cutting ours as well and adding a strip. Seems like the best solution before it gets worse.

Did Jayco do that or a local dealer? Did you have to take it to IN?

We took ours do a dealer in Minneapolis, MN. Don't remember the name though. They had already done a few, they had the parts ordered and in by the time we got there!

Our 377 was done twice at the factory. The first time we dropped it off. It cracked again before we got home. The second time they picked it up and returned it. We now have a little over 15,480 miles on the trailer without an issue.
