Something died over my pinbox
Ok, we're getting ready to leave on a 15 day trip Sunday. Just picked it up from RV service center today, and something has died above the pinbox. I pulled out some straw and grass, so I'm assuming it's a bird.
Question: Does anyone know the best way to get at the area? Very little space coming up from bottom between pinbox/frame and the plywood outer shell with aluminum sheathing. Can't get hands or shop vac in there. This would be right under the bed, so maybe I could remove a square of carpet and cut a hole in the plywood under bed? Would that go through or would I just hit steel there?
It stinks, and the flies are swarming it.
Any ideas? Thanks.

The frame is basically an open structure covered in plywood so the only metal you would hit would be the cross members it is not solid steel. I would unbolt the pin-box first before I would cut into the floor.

Thanks, Grumpy.
In this case, it looks like the frame wraps all the way around the pinbox on three sides, so taking it out wouldn't give me access. I now am looking at either trying to drag pieces of the nest out with a coat hanger or cutting a hole. I'd prefer cutting underneath, but I can't see how to remove and replace the aluminum sheathing without destroying it.
If I can cut a hole in the floor under the bed, I can make that disappear by bracing the plywood cutout and using carpet tape.
Whatever i do, it needs to be done today.

I think the area you want to access is under the cap not under the bed. I don't see how anything could have gotten between the floor and the bottom aluminum pan if there is steel framing surrounding it. Also remember the wiring for your lights is somewhere in that area too
Have you contacted Colerain to see what they say?
Good luck

Dead bird update!
UPDATE! I ended up using a bent coat hanger and dragged the nest out, bit by bit. I noticed that the plywood wasn't all the way across the bottom, It was just about a 4" frame around the pinbox, so I loosened the aluminum where I could, and got about 3/4" of working room to drag stuff under the plywood. (couldn't remove the aluminum without going all the way back to the trailer wall, because of how the panels are screwed and interlocked.)
I think it's pretty much gone, and I did get one dead baby bird out.
The flies stopped swarming it, and now are focused on the garbage bag with the nest. I might spray some lysol or something in there and seal it up after it dries out.
Now I need to find some Jayco colored caulk.
Thanks for listening, now I can go back to getting ready for our first extended trip! Indiana and Michigan.

Lowes, Home Depot and Menards should have OSI Quad seal in the color you need. Also use a piece of hardware cloth to close the end of the pin box to keep any future visitors out.

While there, look for a product called ZorbX to eliminate odors. It does not mask odors but neutralizes them and is good at odors from "dead things" and other biological sources.
Lowes had it and maybe Home Depot does too.
Good luck
