Tire Pressures in TV

For towing my 5th wheel, I have always aired my tires up to max of what the tire indicated (or close to), not what the truck stated.

What is proper? Load sticker on truck, or tires?

man, I am full of questions this week!!

Thanks again in advance.

Do you have the original tires on the truck? The door jamb stickers are worthless once you replace the tires....

No, they are not the original tires. By the spare Goodyear were the original tire. Cooper is now on the truck and I bought Cooper tires for my last truck, primarily because they were made in the USA.

I have always used what's recommended on the tires the door stickers on TV are for comfort not durability. never had an issue doing this .Change my trailer tires to Goodyear Endurance made In the USA

I would tend to agree corv65, but didn't know it was correct. Yes I have Endurance on my 5th wheel (2nd set now)

The door sticker tire pressures for my '17 F-250 are 60 front and 65 rear. They are listed this way to provide the best ride quality. When towing my 9200lb Eagle I run 70 front and 75 rear. The higher tire pressure makes for a better towing experience for me as the sidewalls aren't as "squishy".

The door sticker pressure is where the mfg. rates the towing capacities and weights. I would not change unless you see unusual tire wear or feel steering or other driving issues.

Curious as to how many miles did you out of your first set of Endurance. With only 12,000 miles on my original Endurance I have only 3/32 left on all the tires.

The proper way is to weigh your loaded TV and then refer to the tire manufactures load charts you can view online

Soooo, I just looked and my cooper 20" tires are max at 65 psi. I was expecting 80. They are cooper discoverer A/T3. Any experience with 65 psi? I have never run this run with low psi. my old f250 tires were also rated 80 psi. Set at 65 psi and no worries?

Leaving on a 4 hrs trip in the am

If that's the recommended max then I would not inflate any higher.

Your coopers are the wrong load range if you have a 2500 or 3500 truck, max sidewall pressure would be 80. Load range E. Your tires are under rated if you have anything heavier than a 1500.

I agree. LR E true LT tires in my experience run max 80 PSI.

My Ram 2500 listed 80 lbs on the door pillar I think, but that was for maximum load carrying, so sometimes if I knew I wasn't going to be towing/hauling, I'd lower them to 65 for a better empty ride.

Look up those specific tires and see what their max load carrying capacity is.

AKRUEBBE - not sure on the mileage. I bought the camper brand new with them, had them for 4 years and figured I would rather not play around. They wore even, but I didn't check the depth.

They are cooper Discoverer A/T3
LT325/60/R20 M+S

My tire shows max. load single (3750 lbs) @ 65 psi. Tread 1 ply nylon +2 ply steel+2 ply polyester. Sidewall 2 ply Polyester. Made is U.S.A.

I can't really find much info about the actual tire.

Never saw that before. According to what you say the sidewall says, it's rated. Never saw a tire rated at 3700 without 80psi.

That makes me feel somewhat better mopar_Earl. I know you have plenty of experience. I hope I have no problems with my 4 hour trip to GA. I will replace these tires before September with the original equipment or equal

I have set all tires to max of 65 psi per tire and will monitor tire temps.

Since this truck has a tire temp of the truck tires, what are good specs to stay within?

Could be that it's an R20 tire. Mine were all 18". LR E has always meant 80 PSI to me, but technology changes...

If the specs rate the proper weight for that tire on that truck carrying that load, I would say run it. I've heard good things about Cooper tires lately too.

I wouldn't necessarily default to OEM though, I would check the specs carefully and make my decision that way. My Ram 2500 came with Firestone Transforce A/T tires, and they were some of the worst tires I've ever owned. Switched them for Michelins and drove happy until I sold the truck.
