Wash and Wax

I guess my question is mainly about waxing. I live in Texas and my trailer isn't covered. How often do you guys wax your fifth wheel.

I also have the really bad front cap oxidation going on right now, and I'm scheduled to take it in Dec 6th, so I'm not even sure I want to spend the money to have it waxed until that is repaired. It is only a Year and half old.

I'm not in Texas, but I wash mine when it is dirty. As for wax, I hate waxing it. Historically I have been using a car wash that has wax in it. It is not as good as wax.

I used a McGuire's Paint Protect this spring. A LITTLE goes a long ways, and I put too much on. It looked really dirty a few weeks later, but after washing off all the excess I put on, it has been looking sharp the rest of the summer, and is really surprisingly clean looking, even sitting under a black walnut tree.

I would wait until after the front cap is taken care off. Most dealerships will give the whole rig a good washing (no wax) when done.

Might consider waxing the rest of the unit to slow down or prevent any oxidation that may be going on else where on the unit. I use Mcguire's paste wax in the maroon can on my TT, and usually wax it while we are camping. I don't like just "sitting" all day long for several days in a row so I was the TT while it's set it up and open. I have the time, and usually have some adult beverages handy as well, so....

X2 on Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax. Recently had oxidized front cap sanded down, painted, and new decals. Per CW, waited a week then started putting the 3 coats on the front end. WOW! It really shines and the bugs come off very easily.
Can't believe how easy it applies -- wash, spray on Meguiars, rinse off, then dry. You are done. Easy, peasy.

Oh, I wash each time we use it and wax twice a year.

Happy RVing,
Jeff

I wax once a year in the fall (just did it). I use Meguiars liquid cleaning wax in the maroon bottle.

I use Rejex. Does a great job with a brilliant shine. Bugs barely stick to the nose
