Seems simple enough but I'm not a plumber.

And I'll bet if it was suggested, a 'bean counter' somewhere in the organization would say that 3" piece of pipe, and the labor, was not really necessary; it was just added manufacturing cost.

Hard to see in the pic, but looks like sanicon hose doesn't have the clamp over the end either.

Might try dumping & flushing tanks, loosen & remove 4 bolts holding 3in valve. Rotate upwards 90° and put bolts back in. As long only rotating, seals should not slip out of place. Otherwise, see if jayco will spring for a short cable pull to be installed.

I do like the idea of extending with 3" pipe, may have to use a no hub slip rubber coupler (no internal stop) on macerator.

I’m going to replace the valve with a cable valve and locate the handle on the outside.

This Sanicon is like a macerator that sends it down a small hose?

Mine all seems to run downhill like it should but I don't have one of those.

But we all knew they more than likely cut off multiple feet along the way and throw away chunks all the time .. But I agree it's pretty pathetic the way it is now.

The question I always have is how much $$$ would it have been for a manufacturer to do it right the first time VS the hack jobs you sometimes see... and future sales? After so many stupid things like this ... how willing would you be to buy another one? Would $100 in doing it right = more sales or worse less sales in the future.

For me seeing that pre sale I would a have said you know until you fix that BS ... I'm not signing the deal. You can tell what you like to the manufacturer on why it needed fixing.

It is for safety reasons, so you don't accidentally trip the bypass. That is deliberately turned that way at the factory. By turning it like that you have to deliberately make an attempt to pull the valve and you can't hit it by accident.

That makes a lot more sense than them just doing it to save a dollar. I figured it must’ve been because of the chance of not getting a valve knocked off if something was able to hit it Under the unit. I can imagine going down the highway and have been raw sewage trailing behind you would not be a good thing I can imagine going down the highway and have been raw sewage trailing behind you would not be a good thing

Explain how it is safer? 3 inches of pipe and the valve handle could be facing you. With easy access.

Safer in a way that you don’t accidentally pull the wrong handle and have a raw sewage spill. I’m not an engineer but I do understand what he’s talking about

It does not do anything if it's pulled. You have to remove the cap on the hose and turn on the pump before anything can come out.
