2018.5 Seneca 37HJ Rock Guard

What are people adding as a “Rock Guard” underneath the motor home. I currently only have the factory “Mud Flap’s”. What brand? What length? What width?

I got really frustrated with the pricing of the rock guards. I decided to build my own. Some really thick re-enforced rubber, some angle iron, some flat bar and some chain. All metal painted black. Total cost was $22.50 plus a day of time. And the time doesn't really matter, being retired I have more time than money.

Excellent job! I was hoping to purchase a 96” angle iron (UltraGuard sells ‘em) & attach it to the frame rail’s, etc. to support a Rock Guard. (UltraGuard, Rock Solid, etc.) I just don’t see a good place 96” long to support it. Note: I have some area’s at the very bottom of the rear cap where rock’s have come from the rear dual’s, under the mud flap’s & hit the cap.

I just happen to be in the barn loading the RV as we are heading south for the winter, so I took some pictures.

I was worried about the rocks between the mud flap and the rock guard, but decided to live with it.
I did take a 96" angle iron and attached it at the very back. On the outsides I drilled into the metal frame for the basements and in the middle I drilled into the trailer hitch.
It works. In 2016 going to Alaska, our toad was covered with rocks, even on the hood and wipers. The 2019 trip to Alaska there wasn't a single rock on the toad.

Didn’t think of it. My ‘06 Seneca had the angle iron bolted “flat” clear across. Didn’t see any way to do that on this 2018.5. You’ve bolted the rock guard to the angle iron then suspended the angle w/chain. Thanks.
