For those who converted, did you go through the thought process to decide if it would be better to simply swap out with a residential fridge? Conversion I presume is less expensive and certainly doesn't involve reframing the wall space, but a residential swap would certainly offer more interior storage volume and do away with those wonky four doors on the Norcold.

I have never had a problem with not enough interior space. I didn't measure my coach door opening and compare it to residential specs, but I have heard of others having to remove a window to remove/install a refrigerator. Not necessarily on a Seneca, just stories I had heard over the years.

But I have heard more recently of failures in residential units, maybe the rough ride some are not built for. The JC Refrigeration compressor and lines seem engineered specifically to handle vibration. I'm hopeful some residential units are durable enough for mobile service, I just wouldn't know which are or are not!

I didn't want to mess with possibly reframing and like Robby space really wasn't an issue. The cost, ease of conversion and permanant fix swayed me.

Like the others who have converted I didn't do any measurements but looking at my double door 1210 I couldn't image removing it without using a sawzall! I have heard that the large residential refrigerators can be removed from a Class A by removing the windshield! Sounds like an expensive project. I guess if your refrigerator is in a slide you could remove it!

I wondered the same thing; but comparing the cost of swapping the adsorption refrigerator for a 12 Volt compressor RV/Marine refrigerator vs the JC Refrigeration conversion.
The 12 Volt compressor RV/Marine refrigerators are supposed to be more tolerant of the "rolling earthquake" produced in an RV, compared to a 120 Volt residential refrigerator.
