Eternabond
do people still use eternabond,, for a while it was the craze,, for sealing the front and back caps, and sealing around everything,, or has everyone gone back to the regular sealants,, and the clear sealant that they use along the seams around the outside of the slides, is that just regular sealant or a special product for MH,,, TIA

I am still an Eternabond fan. I have only done my cap seals so far but will likely do all seams shortly...

Still a lot of JOF members using it even on the fiberglass roofs, around the vents and front and rear seams

I just finished my 2017 195RB Dicor removal and replacement with Etearnabond and knockoff brand tape. My Dicor was starting to crack and during inspection I found a spot with a void down to wood. I heated and scraped all the dicor except around the vents. Around the vents I just covered it with 4 inch tape as the vent covers had preserved it and there was no reason to remove. Several hours work but I feel confident that there will be no leaks in my future.
I could have taped over the caulk but it would look bumpy and maybe not as good a seal. (hard to press it down onto a lumpy, uneven surface.)
I could not tell the difference between Etearnabond and the knockoff I bought for a lot less.
Last note, Dicor has a very short life. When it leaks the roof will suffer damage that will be expensive to repair compared to the tape I used.

Not a fan. Hid a roof leak on a previous trailer.
I just finished putting Crazy Seal on my whole roof (different trailer). I got tired of getting up there every month and putting Dicor all over the place. I will still keep an eye on my roof but this is a much tougher surface now.

I just did the front roof seam on mine last fall with Eternabond. This is the second time I've used it on a trailer. I'm planning on doing all the roof seals with if I can find the time.
If one has a bad experience with it, it's because it wasn't properly prepped.

I did mine years ago. There is not much to talk about once it's done except inspection.

I would surmise... once you have used it, you don't need to go back and fix it again and again like other methods - nothing to talk about since it is fixed.
Same with us... It is still up there years later doing it's job.

I like my Eternabond! Once and done.
I did learn the first time I used it to fix a small tear, do not stretch it or it will peel up the next day.

I'm curious, what did you do to prep it? And why do you think it leaked? It's very rare to hear of leaks, and the company themselves says it's all in the prep. I used to paint cars, it's very similar. Bad prep = bad paint job.

It's not just prep, but also.proper install. Don't stretch and roll down tight with a wallpaper roller or similar.

Speaking of Eternabond, I have some left over that I keep in my RV.
Does anyone think that it would be suitable for an emergency radiator water hose failure or would duct tape be better? Any thoughts on other uses as well, perhaps torn awnings etc.? ~CA

I read way back it has a 5 year shelf life but I am still using some left over for small patches, etc and it works fine. I have some installed on my rig over five years and it's still great.
I prepped mine by cleaning it with a spray can of their cleaner then carefully rolled it on with no stretching of the material, then rolling the material with a small wooden wallpaper roller.

I think if it's kept dry and clean it would probably work for many emergencies. radiator hose failure? I'm not so sure it could stand the heat and pressure.

I would be hard pressed to go back to using dicor or any other sealant again. I used to go around every year and scrape and re-seal numerous places around my roof. Eternabond is a 1 time thing....put it on and forget about it for 15 or 20 years. I checked my last trailer after 4 or 5 years and the eternabond looked like i applied it that day. That stuff is amazing.
