That is very interesting, I will check mine out this weekend. Are you sending this to FCCC or swapping lines yourself, or have them?

We'll see what the Freightliner folks come up with.

I was told this morning in an email that if they are reversed, the DEF Header needs to be replaced. They sent me the routing diagrams so I can check mine.

Just finished tracking my lines and there are reversed on the bulkhead fittings on the inner side where they pass through the frame.

Email from FCCC this morning regarding my rig.

"Working with the tech this morning and it looks like he found a connection issue. He has corrected that and the code went inactive. On the other S2RV's we have seen the run of issues on, they were built in 2017 and it was DEF heater lines crossed and they had different codes than what you have had."

Brief update after completing repairs. Yes the DEF Header was replaced and in my case heater control valve which is what continued to fail on my rig. Basically it was in the open position continuously. The valve should not open above 32 degrees. This definitely is a dealer fix. Took several hours. It looks like this may throw several difference fault code all related to the DEF tank heater. Mine is below. My MIL light would come on when it was extremely hot outside. Just think ambient temp 100 and running coolant through your DEF tank. I know at last dealer temp in def tank was 160.

Just had this happen after a stop in Parker, AZ for fuel. The outside air temp was 110, so I'm wondering if that was a factor. The amber engine light came on and my ScanGauge showed a 3363 code. I continued driving and the check light went out after we stopped for fuel the next day. The rest of our trip was uneventful and there were no more thrown engine codes.

We have about 6500 miles on our 2019 Seneca, so I will be following this thread for updates. Thanks for posting this.

DEF Header

New DEF Header being shipped in overnight and also will replace the DEF coolant value as described above. Did learn today from schematics received from Cummins/FCCC that my coolant hoses from engine to DEF tank WHERE REVERSED. Usually burns out the values earlier then mine. They are scratching their heads over that issue. Will post anything new or different. I am a child of this wild west country so looking out at foothills of Rockies and watching Antelope graze is okay.

Gunfighter, I'm having the same problem as you described and will be going thru Casper tomorrow 1st of Aug. Can you give me a part number for the items you had shipped and are they easily installed? Can I do the installation myself? Or would you recommend Floyds? Thanks

Do you know if the 1713 fault code will cause the engine to de-rate and shut down? Or can I get this fixed in a matter of days or a week?

Thanks for the fault code description. I noticed where it states that there is "no effect on performance" while in this condition. I had this code come up last year in Texas, but after a day and fresh fuel, the check engine light went out. Will this eventually cause an engine shut down?

I just started the truck yesterday to find the check engine light on. Went to Freightliner who also stated my issue was a bad DEF tank heater. I couldn’t leave it then as I most time in the truck but will have to make time later for repair.

However they then tried to charge $90. It is my understanding that all DEF issues are under a government mandated 5 year warranty. Service gentleman said he didn’t know anything about that but waived fee. Says changing heater $300 + labor.

Sorry for the delay in response I’m at a family wedding. Definitely go to Floyd’s if you’re in the area since they did the whole repair for me after dealing with FCCC. Ask for Dave service manager. The whole crew there are very good. Took them about 5 hours. They will see if your FEF coolant hoses are backwards.

I have on my Seneca 2018.5 for a little over two years. I have been into Freightliner for different times dealing with the death Hatter and related Hose & Valve issues. I have yet to pay one dime for repairs all under warranty because of emissions call 1 800 Freightliner help I think they can straighten things out for you or email fccc

DEF code 1713

Do you know how far I can drive with this 1713 fault condition. The description says it does not affect performance. Just wondering if my coach will go into shut down. I've had this condition before in Texas and it went away on its own after about 100 miles and fresh fuel. Today I've driven 300 miles with the check engine light on for the 1713 code. Thanks

Sorry about my bad spelling and poor text. I am dictating this into a cell phone as I'm standing out in the field had a country wedding. Having a great time but I wanted to get this off because I know some of you are wondering if you should light up your Seneca or head for the shop.
