Seneca Dually Valve Stems

Bought our Seneca this June and have not yet purchased TPMS. Going to do it. Until then, does anyone else find it strange that the valve stems on my dual rear wheels have the outside tire valve stem pointing in. The inner dual stem is pointing out but is a real bear to get at. I have attached a photo of the outer valve stem and they are the same on both sides. Here are my questions: 1) Is there a logical reason for the stem to be pointed in rather than out? 2) Have any of you used a long valve stem extender with or without grommet to make checking tires easier. 3) Seems like an extender with a grommet would add stability when using a TPMS. Appreciate your input.

Valves are traditionally oriented like that, so any wheel could be used on the inner, and not interfere with brakes and such. Also, some run "extenders" mounted between the wheels/"behind" the outter, so there aren't hoses out in the open where they can be damaged. With the proper air chuck/tire gauge, they don't really pose an issue. Granted.... shiny alloy outter wheels are more the norm these days, and not meant to be flipped and ran as an inner.... so not sure why the design continues. Someone with "big truck" experience can probably explain it better.

I find it significantly easier to check and add air by pulling back then try to push forward. The reverse portion of the chuck works.
Now checking air on my inner tire is a pain I screw an extension on to inflate. I have not found the perfect set up.

Just put 15 degree extenders on mine tonight. Sooo much easier to add air as well as TPMS. Many folks speak of the extenders leaking , but as I usually check my tires, I think I'll be fine. I picked up the 135 and 180s in case, as I have to store the RV away from home. 135's worked best.

I was having the same problem and am thinking of changing the rear outers to a straight stem so it is easier install and work with tire monitoring systems.

I agree. I would think centrifugal force on a straight stem would also be better than on a stem on its side.
