Trailer Brake Controller

Any recommendations for a trailer brake controller for a 2017 37HJ?

I am pulling an 8.5 x 18 enclosed cargo trailer at around 6500 lbs loaded.

Thanks,
Kim

just make sure it has adjustable gain. conditions change while driving, even rain will change how much gain you need.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2, is a great controller. Been using one for 25 years, no complaints.

When I had the dealer install a Hayes air over electric brake controller.

https://www.hayesbc.com/products/con...ed-controller/

I have towed 1100 miles home from the dealer with a 20 open trailer and Jeep on it (7000 lbs) and it worked very well. The trailer braking is proportionate to the brake pedal which eliminates the push from the trailer before the brakes start to work (although Im not sure you would feel it with this size rv). My only complaint with the Hayes is that it makes a click noise when you step on the brake pedal and starts to work. This happens every time, trailer or no trailer, which could annoy some people.

I have also used a red arc hidden setup on the Jeep and it was very good and I have had an old prodigy in the 2500 Ram for 15 years with zero complaints or issues and I have a newer 3500 Ram with factory controller. I have also borrowed friends trucks with surge style electric controllers which I would avoid at all costs.

I have towed at least 80,000 miles in my life and a good brake controller makes a lot of difference in the comfort of towing.
