174BH Awning question

This hasn't happened to us, but figured I should ask to make sure I am prepared.

Our awning is a power awning. With everything power, it isn't if it will fail, but when, and that when is NEVER at a good time.

So I haven't found how to manually roll up the awning if the power/motor isn't working?

Anyone had to do this or know how to do it?

In the packet of owner's manuals you received you should have a manual for the awning.

One thing I have never heard anyone say on the forum is, "my awning motor failed now what". Slideouts on the other hand seem to fail, but not awnings.

Our TT came with a long jumper cable that you can connect to the awning motor and to your vehicle battery to wind it in case the switch or a wire goes bad. I tried the jumper cable last year just to try it. It was to short to be really useful.

I have not seen any way to manually roll in the awning.

fisduki, I am assuming it is a Solera awning like I have in my 195RB. if so there is a plastic cap on the motor housing that when pulled exposes a 7/16" nut or bolt head. You can use a drill or manual crank with a 7/16" socket to retract or extend.

There are some videos out there from Lippert showing how it's done. Hope this helps.
