2020 264bh

Hello everyone new here.. I am sure it's more common than I realize but I have a question about my campers model year.. The tt is a 2020 264bh but the outside is the color scheme of a 2019 with a build date of 5/19..it's seems to be kinda of a basket case because unless I read the brochure wrong 2020s had gas electric WH. but mine is only gas and it doesn't have a black tank flush which I thought was standard for 2020 also the appliances are not stainless and it's not a high rise faucet..i called jayco and ran the Vin to make sure I wasn't sold a 2019 but they stated it is a 2020. Those few things being differentare not really an issue as I didn't have them before in my other TT anyways but was just curious how common this is

We have a 2019 Jayco 264BH Western edition with a build date of February 2019. We have the propane/electric water heater, high-rise kitchen faucet and black tank flush. However we do not have stainless appliances. Jayco must have changed the trailer a lot between the 2019 and 2020 models, unless the western edition comes with these options and the standard trailer model does not.

My 2019 Jayflight SLX 298BH was built in 2/2019. It has the same features as yours. Since they only produced my floor plan in the 2019 model year, I couldn't get the gas/electric water heater and black tank flush.

I did see in Jayco literature in 2019 that the black tank flush was available on western edition rigs built in Idaho but not in eastern edition rigs built in Indiana. You can tell the difference because Idaho units models end in a W (i.e. 264BHW for ID built vs. 264BH for IN built).

I agree with Bob, I think your unit was built during model year changeover.

I was thinking the same about the model year change over which I'm OK with since the white matches my truck 😁.. . I always wondered why some had the"w"designation... Yes the 298 was also on my list of possibilities as I had just noticed the Floorplan recently and really liked it.. I could only find one remotely close to me and it was overpriced.. Finding one of those is kinda like finding a unicorn😂

My 2022 264BH (built in 2021) was missing some things like outside TV mount, front bed storage shocks and some other items that were supposed to be standard in 2022. Between Jayco and the dealer, all things were updated / taken care of. It wasn't major items though.

Well good think I've been looking things over before camping season starts found a leak behind the shower faucet where they used flexhose to go from the pex to the shower faucet. So I got rid of the flex hose and put pex in.. Then today while I was testing for the water lines to hold pressure the furnace stated kick of and on a few seconds.. After little bit it wouldn't light at all.. I removed the couch put the heater out and took off the sail switch which looked fine and clean out it back together tried it and now it's working so well see how long it lasts.. They really should have put an access panel to the heater

Bapple403,

My 'floor ducted' furnace is also located under my jackknife sofa, and mine is covered with a wood framed 'box' with one front mounted metal cold air return vent (refer to pic)

QUESTION: Does your furnace also have a wood box mounted over it? If it does, how many cold air return vents does your wood box have?

Thanks in advance,

Bob

My furnace is also located under my "jack-knife" sofa and has 1 cold air return vent on the wooden box. It has 1 hot air vent mounted on the outside front of the couch and 1 vent out the back of the sofa wall into the bedroom.

Yes it has a box over it with One cold aire return just like yours but the side that is solid on yours is half cut away with a heat vent coming out the front of the jackknide sofa and one going thru the back wall into the bedroom.. You can actually see it in the picture on the right side of where the couch should be.. Where are your heat ducts at?

Bapple403,

My furnace discharges the warm air out the 'bottom' of the furnace into a main plenum duct that feeds four (4) floor vents. I had operating issues with my furnace when I found that the furnace's top metal enclosure surface and the top surface of the wood box enclosure was running 'hot' due to (IMO) lack of adequate cold air return.

Please note: The following information applies to my 2018 Jay Flight 24RBS floorplan, furnace system, and jackknife sofa:

With my sofa in the 'sitting position' the gap between the sofa-back and the wall was the only available furnace cold air return entry source...., but, the return air has to first travel over the top of the wood box, then down through the front of the wood box, through the black metal cold air vent, back across the top of the hot metal furnace top, then over to the furnace's rear corner where the blower motor open air vent louvers are located....

The above condition starves the furnace of adequate cold air return resulting in compromising (RPM's increase) the blower motor's ability to draw in enough return air. One major concern I had was when the jackknife sofa is placed in the 'open position' (bed) the furnace air gap source between the sofa-back and wall "closes up".

After incorporating a couple mods I haven't had any problems since:

My furnace mods: Posts #157 - #164, #220 - #223, and #229 in the following JOF thread: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...-51005-14.html

I did also consider the fact like you that the box around it would really trap in heat.. From the factory the back farthest corner where the side wall and partition wall meet they did cut the lid to the box on a 45 so the corner is also technically a open cold air return.. I'm sure we will never use the couch as a bed so as long as what is has now is sufficiant I'm not going to modify it but I do like your vent into the bedroom.. It was just odd that it acted up then was operating normal once I put it back together the same way it was..

If you get a chance could you post a photo of the factory wood box corner with the 45 degree modification....., just a little curiosity on my part.

Sometimes a little dust buildup, pet hair, etc., can compromise a sail switch's operation, and by tapping the outer metal furnace enclosure near the switch location can sometimes free it up.

It's hard to get a clear picture because they have a panel covering the box where it's visible from behind the couch

Bapple403,

Appreciate the follow-up with the 'box' photos...., and the corner 'cutout' will help with the cold air return issue with the jackknife sofa in the sitting position.

Being the 3rd owner, it's very possible a prior owner may have incorporated the "cutout"..., I haven't seen an open corner 'cutout' in other units.

I've found 3 leaks in this thing since I brought it home one was a screw on fitting under a sink just needed snugged up.. The other was the vinyl braided lines going to the shower faucet were leaking where the vinyl was crimped to the pex so I removed that and replaced it with pex all the way up to the faucet.. Now there is a short vinyl peice from the water pump to the pex.. Is there any reason I can't just replace it with pex directly to the pump too?

I think that is put in place to minimize the noise from the pump's vibration. I would think Pex would transfer that vibration to the rest of the pipe more than the vinyl hose would.

Yeah I figure that to be true but I'll take some extra noise over a leak and having to wonder when it will leak again after it's fixed each time.
