Cool 26bh newbie needs to know secrets!

We pick up the Jay Flight 26BH tomorrow...what do I need to know?

New to Jayco and travel trailers so any tips, tricks and hints outside of the typical stuff you hear helps!

Take your time doing the inspection before you take delivery. Go into the inspection like something is hiding from you. Take the drawers out and look inside the cabinets. Test and turn on everything, first with shore power then test it all with just batteries.

Hope there is no more than 3 or 4 people using it at one time? Not much room to turn around in. I know--I have a 2014 26BH and wish I could get rid of it.

Watch this several times:

There are no secrets with the internet. Watch all the youtube videos you can. Towing, backing into a site, maintenance, finding a good RV park, and so on.

And, you've come to the right forum. Most of the newbie's questions have already been answered many times, so let the search function be your friend. When you're totally stuck, ask, and you'll generally receive all the help you need.

Welcome aboard.

gperson26,

Welcome to JOF

Note that your RV dealership can only adjust your new WDH under "unloaded" conditions, and many RV dealerships fall short on this adjustment.

Make sure your RV dealership gives all the installation/adjustment documentation of your WDH...., you will want to re-adjust the WDH under your typical TV/TT "loaded" ready-to-camp conditions. You can preform the WDH adjustments yourself with the proper tools...., and reference your TV's owner manual's "Towing Section" for any related specifications when utilizing a WDH.

Consider adding a CAT scale visit to your short list........., the CAT results will confirm all your weights and allow you to dial-in your WDH adjustment, a CAT visit under TV/TT loaded conditions will give you all the information you need.

CAT scale how-to: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...v-tt-3871.html

Take it slow and ask questions. The 26BH is a great camper. We had ours for almost 6 years and never had any issues that required the dealers attention. Happy Camping!

Welcome to the forum from western NY! You may want to set it up in "Camp Driveway" first, just as if you were at your favorite campground. This will give you an idea of what you need, and still be at home if you forgot something. A pad of paper and pencil is a good idea for the first few times away, to jot down items you need, want, forgot to pack, or questions you want to ask.
Also, there's no such thing as a dumb question here. Happy camping!
