Brake controller install

Ok. Here goes. I am mechanically inclined but not good with colors. I and a friend both have Silverados. When discussing my new RV, he asked which controller I use. I said prodigy p2. So he bought one and I am trying to help install. My truck had a 5 wire harness (red, blue, white, blue with strip and one other. can't remember color cause i taped it up when trying g to make it all look good. His however has red, blue, yellow, orange and a green with white stripe. Searching etrailer gave me same colors as my truck. YouTube same way. WTF. Any idea? I get it to use red and blue. But we still need to hook up two more wires. Instructions are super generic. Not specific to any vehicle.

Did you purchase the harness with plugs on both ends for Chevy. This is the easy plug n play or you can use the supplied generic harness supplied by GM that probably has a plug on the truck end but loose wires for the controller.

Ok. He said when buying it, it offered purchasing one of two harnesses or just using the generic. He said he went the cheap route because I didnt mention buying it. I didn't need one for mine. My wire colors were normal. Dunno.

Have him order the harness, it has plugs on both ends. Its makes it a few minute job, no wires to figure out, just plug and go. Make sure he buys the harness for the correct year truck.

I figured it out. Had to pull out my dvom. Checked for ground. Found it in the yellow. Checked for signal when brake depressed. Found it on the ligt green with white stripe. Works good now.
