Just wondering if anyone out there is towing with a Chevrolet Colorado with the V6 engine? 2WD OR 4WD and how much you are towing. Rated for 7000 lbs. Anyone near that weight and how is the truck handling the tow and what mpg are you getting? Thanks for your feedback.

The towing experience with this is one for the experience tow driver. With the proper equipment for a hitch and driving knowing you have a huge sail behind you. I would not recommend this for an inexperienced person, and if other circumstances didn’t prevent a larger truck from being owned. I would suggest a larger truck for this trailer without the wide stance axles. It would just give more drivers more confidence. The truck handles the weight awesome. For most people I would say stay with a trailer with a overall length no more than 29-30 feet long. If you want to tow that be willing to spend the money on a very good weight distribution hitch with the built in active sway control. I get between 12-14.5 mpg with the Duramax towing around Michigan, sorry I know that is little help to you.

If you could stay about 1500lbs under you max towing I feel you'll have an awesome towing experience with the Colorado when set up with the right equipment.
Good luck in your search.

Thanks for your responses, sounds like full size is the way to go. The real issue is that don't believe a full size Silverado will fit in the garage.

IMO, buy the truck you need to fit the job, not to fit in the garage.

Our 2006 crewcab long-bed spent 1/2 its life in MI & didn't fit our garage there.... and doesn't fit our garage here in AZ.

I was driving a 2017 Colorado when we bought a White Hawk 26RK. In paper it looked like the truck was able to handle that trailer. Getting the empty trailer from the dealer to our home was the scariest drive I ever had in my life. Any faster than 60 MPH was just out of the question. The trailer moved the back of the truck anywhere it wanted to, and I had to make corrections to stay in control. It was a 90 minute white knuckle drive using an Equalizer hitch. Needless to say, I had to get another truck.

I just went through this experience. Had a Tundra 5.7 CrewMax with the towing package. Rated for 10,400 lb. but cargo was a pathetic 1,385 lb. We started off with a White Hawk 24RKS which the Tundra pulled fine, and everything well within limits.

Enter, Wife and 24RKS is just too small. Next trailer and current is a White Hawk 28RL. Still good on max tow, but right at the 1,385 lb. limit, or a few hundred over depending on the trip. I could have kept towing with what I had, but its the things you experience that tells you the trailer is too big for the truck.

Wind, Semi Trucks, Hills, Downgrades and I quickly learned a 1/2 ton shouldn’t be towing a trailer like this, even though Jayco claims their entire White Hawk line is “1/2 ton towable”. I guess I should ask Jayco to clarify that statement.
